You stick out your tongue.

Your newborn sticks out theirs.

It feels like your first conversation—but did your baby really copy you?

In a major study of 106 infants, babies were no more likely to produce the matching gesture than another movement.

So neonatal imitation may not be as simple as we once believed.

But the moment still matters.

Your baby moves.
You notice.
You respond.

And that is where connection begins. 🤍

Your baby heard you before they ever saw your face. 🤍

During pregnancy, your baby was already becoming familiar with the rhythm and melody of your voice.

So try this:

🤰 BEFORE BIRTH
Choose one tiny phrase — “I’m here” — and repeat it regularly.

👶 AFTER BIRTH
Use the same phrase while holding, feeding or comforting your baby.

It won’t magically stop every cry.

But it can become something familiar in a completely new world. 🤍

Bonding doesn’t require a perfect parent or one magical moment. It grows every time your child feels seen, safe and loved.

Tomorrow, we begin a new series about how a secure bond is built — one small moment at a time. 🤍

The way we respond to our children becomes part of how they eventually respond to themselves. Not through perfect parenting—but through connection, safety and repair. ❤️
