I am passionate about providing the latest to keep people safe during dangerous weather situations. I care about you, your family, and your friends knowing critical weather information.

To that end, I have streamed live coverage for every single tornado-warned storm to move through the coverage area since late 2019.

I have hesitated to make a post like this, because I know it would be easy to have a random Tornado Warning in a zone of dozens of counties, be so short-lived, that I am not able to get on in time. More than once, I have had a nightmare about missing a local Tornado Warning, only to wake up to see that things are fine.

I really appreciate my loyal viewers and followers. With my recent investment in an advanced weather graphics system, and having a scheduled broadcast weekday evenings at 5:30PM, I would like to make even more people aware of potential North Florida and South Georgia weather impacts.

Until 2022, as many of you might be able to relate to, very low internet speeds were all that were available in my rural Bradford County location. An upload speed of under 0.5 Mbps resulted in me having to stream in 360p, which caused blurry streams when I would move around in front of the camera to point things out (not as noticeable on small screengrabs, like the 2019 coverage example shown here) or loop the radar.

Simply trying to post on social media while still streaming radar risked significant interruptions, or the stream cutting off completely. As such, many would switch to clearer live coverage video from other sources. I am sure that this, coupled with a habit of late-night live forecast update streams, significantly reduced my reach on Facebook and X/Twitter.

I have not been able to overcome all my live streams over the years with just a small number of viewers. When you see my weather content, if you can like it, comment on it, and share it often, more people will see my posts and streams. Plus, you will see my content more frequently too. Thank you!

Weather History: Ten years ago today, Tropical Storm Colin moved through our area. It was a fairly weak system, but still brought some squally weather.

🚨 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭 – 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐝 / 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭 𝐑𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚

Emergency crews are currently responding to a brush fire in the area of Newell Road and Eston Prescott Road.

Crews are focused on protecting nearby structures and preventing spread of the fire. There are currently no evacuation orders in place.

Please avoid the area and do not stop to watch emergency operations. Keeping roadways clear allows responding personnel and equipment to access the scene safely and efficiently.

If you are within 10 miles of this area please keep in mind that wildfire conditions change rapidly. Have your family, pets, and important items ready to go in the event evacuations are ordered.

Please do not self-depoy to bring any donations or goods directly to the scene. Coordinate with Charlton County EMA by emailing [email protected] with your name, a phone number, what it is that you would like to help with, and EMA will call you back to coordinate.

Charlton County EMA will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

Catastrophic and deadly Hurricane is a storm that people in parts of our area will never forget.

With hurricane season underway (no current local threats) and new tools now available in the weather center, I decided to take a look back at the historic 2024 system.

Doppler radar reflectivity, storm winds, and correlation coefficient are shown in this montage. The well-defined blue area over Perry around 11:45 PM in correlation coefficient mode is indicative of birds that were trapped in the eye of the hurricane.

How did Hurricane Helene impact you? Let me know your story in the comments below.
