Everywhere in the world, so-called snowflake-shaped "forts" have been built. They are called the star cities.
Some are no longer very visible today but can still be found on ancient maps.
Below are three posts on some of the star cities found in the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Poland.
And you, do you know any other star cities or snowflake forts?

Rocchetta Mattei is a fortress built in the second half of the 19th century, which eclectically mixes different styles, from medieval to Moorish; it is located on the northern Apennines, on a rise set 407 meters above sea level, in Savignano, in the municipality of Grizzana Morandi, in the metropolitan city of Bologna, on state road No. 64 Porrettana.

La Rocchetta was the home of Count Cesare Mattei (1809-1896), a scholar, politician and self-taught physician who was the founder of electromeopathy, a practice based on homeopathy. Dostoevskji mentions the count in The Brothers Karamazov, when he has the devil tell how he was able to recover from terrible rheumatism thanks to a book and Count Mattei's drops.

The pyramid of Gunung Pagang lies buried in the ground : a huge pyramid, the largest known in the world.

Scattered across a vast hillside in this Indonesian province lie the remains of a huge complex of rocky structures and monuments, an archaeological wonder described as the largest megalithic site in all of Southeast Asia.

Gunung Padang is a megalithic site located in Karyamukti, Campaka, Cianjur regency, West Java, Indonesia.

The existence of the site was first mentioned in the Rapporten van de Oudheidkundige Dienst (ROD, "Report of the Department of Antiquities") in 1914.

Located at 885 meters above sea level, the site extends up a hill in a series of terraces bordered by stone retaining walls that are accessed by about 400 andesite steps rising about 95 meters. It is covered with massive rectangular stones of volcanic origin. The Sundanese people consider the site sacred and believe it was the result of King Siliwangi's attempt to build a palace overnight.

At the end of June 2014, the Ministry of Education and Culture declared the Gunung Padang site a national site area, totaling 29 hectares (72 acres).

The city of Bagan formerly known as Pagan, also named Arimaddanapura (the city of the enemy crusher) or Tambadipa (the land of copper) or Tassadessa (the dry land), was the former capital of several ancient kingdoms in Burma. It is located in the country's dry central plains on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, 145 kilometers southwest of Mandalay.

In 2019, Bagan was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city did not exist until King Pyinbya moved the capital to Pagan in 874 AD, which quickly became an important city. Bagan's ruins cover an area of nearly 10 square kilometers. Most of its buildings were built between 1000 and 1200, when Bagan was the capital of the first Burmese empire.
