🎷On This Day in Arkansas History
Born on July 8, 1908, in Brinkley, Arkansas, Louis Jordan, the legendary songwriter, bandleader and saxophonist, helped shape the sound of modern rock and roll and R&B.

Known as the "King of the Jukebox," Jordan's music brought joy to millions and left a lasting legacy in American music.
Honors & Legacy:
- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1987)
- Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame (1998)
- Arkansas Black Hall of Fame (2005)
- Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2018, posthumous)

James David Hayes, 75 of Clarendon, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 4, 2025 at VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born December 22, 1949 in Clarendon AR. He was drafted in 1969 to the US Army. He later found his passion for welding and

Today we take time to remember Trooper Wilson A. Atkins Jr., who was killed in the line of duty on this date in 1988 at the age of 39.

Trooper Atkins was struck and killed by a vehicle while issuing a citation on I-40 near Brinkley.

Trooper Atkins had served the Arkansas State Police for 5 years.

A hero remembered never dies!
