On January 26, 1959, in the quaint town of Brinkley, Arkansas, Jessie “Bud” James Sr. and Rosetta Peoples-James were blessed with an addition to their ever-growing family, a baby boy they lovingly named Carl James.

Carl was reared in a Christian home and his faith in Christ was instilled into him at an early age, and would fellowship with his family at St. Paul Full Gospel Church (formerly St. Paul M.B. Church) in Brinkley, Arkansas.

Carl matriculated in the Brinkley Public School system and was a 1977 graduate of Brinkley High School. Later, Carl would further his education at Crowley’s Ridge Technical Institute in Forrest City, Arkansas, by completing their auto mechanic program. He also attended Job Corp in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Carl was a kind and meek gentleman that lived a simple life. He enjoyed old school music, listening to gospel music, he played the guitar, and he loved to dance. Carl was also a handy man who could do painting and light carpentry work. He was also an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. He was formerly employed at a local cotton gin in Brinkley, Arkansas.

On October 26, 2025, God saw His son Carl James grow weary, and He decided to surrender him from his earthly labor, and grant him sweet rest. He sent His Angels to The Springs of Brinkley Nursing and Rehab, and transferred Carl’s soul to his eternal peace. Awaiting Carl in Zion were his parents Jessie Sr. and Rosetta James, brothers Melvin James and Herman James, and his sister Rose James.

Left to relish Carl’s memories are his sisters, Teresa (Leon) Vance, Sandra (Barry) Larry, and Ruby James all of Brinkley, AR, and Debbie (Lawrence) Smith of St. Louis, MO, his brothers, Jessie Sr. (Josephine) James of Little Rock, AR, Harold (Lena) James of Biscoe, AR, Lawrence (Anita) James of Denver, CO, and Kevin (Fetina) James of Jonesboro, AR, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Public viewing will take place on Friday November 7, 2025 from 10 am to 3 pm at Branscumb Funeral Home.

Funeral will take place on Saturday November 8, 2025, at St. Paul Full Gospel Church (509 E. Emmons Ave, Brinkley) at 2 pm. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Brinkley by Branscumb Funeral Home “The assurance of respect, and the commitment of service…” (870) 734-2772.
