🌈 Remembering openly gay musician, radio personality and actor Robert Jacks.
Jacks portrayed the chainsaw wielding horror icon, Leatherface in the self-parody THE RETURN OF THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, 1995), the fourth film in the franchise; and often sited as a sequel, or direct-sequel to the original 1974 film. Its also been described as a remake, as it features a similar structure.

In an 1996 interview, Kim Henkel (Co-Creator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), admitted that his approach "amounts to almost being a structural remake of the first film, with a new cast and characters," blurring the line between reboot and parody. According to Henkel, the character of Leatherface assumes the persona of the person whose face he wears: "The confused sexuality of the character is complex and horrifying at the same time." Leatherface is loosely based off real-life killer Ed Gein who made skin suits out of his female victims, and "cross-dressed" in their flesh.

Both critics and film scholars have noted Leatherface's overt cross-dressing, which was briefly explored in the original film with the impressions of 'the grandmother' and the 'beautiful woman' personas; that are implemented to a greater extent in this entry; and likening Leatherface's presentation in it to that of a "tortured drag queen." Jacks himself stated that "because of the times..." the character is "much more subjugated in this one than in the other films. It's shown in this that he's really tortured in many ways..."

On August 8, 2001, one day before his 42nd birthday, Jacks, a resident of Austin, Texas sadly passed away from an abdominal aneurysm.

🌈 Acknowledging British Master of Horror; author, filmmaker and artist CLIVE BARKER, known for his 1984 short story 'THE FORBIDDEN,' and his 1986 novella 'THE HELLBOUND HEART' both of which produced horror icons Candyman, and the Hell Priest "Pinhead."

Barker's sexual orientation was never something he kept a secret. In 1996, he officially came out to the public; around this time his first novel featuring a gay protagonist, ['SACRAMENT'], was published. He also openly stated on Dr. Drew's LOVELINE that during his teen years he had several relationships with older women, but he realized that he was gay around 18 or 19-years-old.

🌈 Remembering Vincent Price (1911 – 1993)
In the '70s, Price was critical of anti-gay rights campaigns. In later years he was supportive of his daughter, Victoria, when she came out as le***an; and joined PFLAG as an honorary board member. Price was also one of the first celebrities to film a public service announcement to help allay public fears about HIV/AIDS.

In an interview in 2015, Victoria revealed that her father was extremely supportive of her; and had confided in her his intimate, though non-sexual, relationships with men.

Price suffered from COPD, as well as Parkinson's disease. His symptoms were especially severe while shooting his scenes for Tim Burton's EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990) requiring his schedule to be shortened.

On October 25, 1993, Price died in his Los Angeles, California home, at age 82 from of lung cancer. His remains were cremated and his ashes scattered off Nicholas Canyon Beach, near Point Dume in Malibu.

Remembering American actor Anthony "Norman Bates" Perkins.

Tab Hunter's 2005 autobiography "Tab Hunter Confidential" publicly acknowledged his four year relationship with Perkins beginning in 1956; and describes the couple separated just before Perkins filmed Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO (1960).

In a July 2024 article of People Magazine his son, actor and filmmaker Oz Perkins stated: that he and his brother [Elvis] grew up in a "complicated upbringing watching their father struggle to live two lives as either a closeted homosexual or bisexual man."

Many of Tony's friends, partners, and colleagues have consistently said that he was gay rather than bisexual because he had exclusively engaged in same-sex relationships until his late 30s, and expressed very little interest in women, sexually. However, several co-stars and collaborators have recalled situations where he'd leer over as an attractive woman walked by

Still, many friends were surprised by his marriage to American actress, model and photographer Berry Berenson in August 1973; and didn't believe the marriage would last. Berenson once stated: "a lot of people looked at the two of us and said 'Who are they kidding? This is never going to work.' I was so naïve I couldn't figure out what they were talking about. Tony told me, and it just didn't register."

Despite the fact that Perkins remained mostly closeted for his entire life. He supported many progressive causes, such as civil rights and feminism; and expressed his support for LGBTQ+
rights, and stated that the idea that marriage primarily between a man and a woman was "archaic," and that, if having children was the sole reason to get married, "g**s can adopt."

Even before getting diagnosed with the illness, Tony would regularly volunteered at Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization which delivered meals to HIV and AIDS patients. In September 1986, six years before his death, Perkins released a PSA urging people to "fight AIDS with the facts."

While filming PSYCHO IV (1990), Perkins tested positive for HIV. During his time of illness he managed to continue working on movies, and appeared in six television productions from 1990 to 1992; as well as hosted a 12-episode horror anthology while privately battling with disease.

On September 12, 1992, at age 60, he passed away in his Los Angeles home from AIDS-related pneumonia. In a statement prepared before his death, Perkins said: "I chose not to go public about... because, to misquote Casablanca, 'I'm not much good at being noble,' but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of one old actor don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. I have learned more about love, selflessness and human understanding from the people I have met in this great adventure in the world... than I ever did in the cutthroat, competitive one in which I spent my life."

In the early 1950s, McDowall was involved in a forbidden romantic relationship with American actor Montgomery Clift; the two had been introduced to each other by actress Elizabeth Taylor. Roddy, devoted himself entirely to Clift even moving from LA to NYC so they could be closer. After their breakup, Roddy struggled with depression and attempted su***de. Nevertheless, he expressed no bitterness; and the two remained loyal friends.
