Press Release
Motor Vehicle Crash
On July 10 2025, Berkeley Township Police Officers responded to the intersection of Route 9 and Serpentine Drive for a motor vehicle crash involving two cars and a juvenile operating a dirt bike. Upon arrival, both vehicles were found to have body damage, and the juvenile was observed with life-threatening injuries.
An extensive investigation concluded that the juvenile was operating a Kawasaki dirt bike at a high rate of speed and passing motor vehicles on the shoulder southbound on Route 9.
This dirt bike was not street legal and was being operated during nighttime hours without a headlight.
A 2016 Kia Rio was traveling northbound on Route 9 and began to conduct a left turn onto Serpentine Drive as this Juvenile entered into the intersection.
The vehicle struck the dirt bike, causing it to crash into a 2021 Jeep Compass, which was stopped at a stop sign.
The juvenile suffered significant injuries and was airlifted from the Shoprite Plaza, located at 431 Route 9, to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in critical condition. No other injuries were reported by the involved parties.
Route 9 southbound was closed for approximately two and a half hours during the investigation.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department's Crime Scene Investigation Unit assisted with the collection of evidence.
This is still an ongoing investigation with charges pending.
This investigation is being led by Officer Ryan Wahl of the Berkeley Township Traffic Safety Bureau.

Delayed post - Mayor Rodrick's body counts continue to rise! Just before 3pm today, there was an EMS call in the Silverton section off of Kettle Creek Rd where a male party collapsed on his front lawn and CPR was in progress by family members. Kudos to the Toms River Police and East Dover Fire Chief who responded and were on scene in 2 minutes. They then assisted a neighbor who was an off-duty Newark firefighter on the front lawn, administering CPR. Initially, there was NO AMBULANCE AVAILABLE to respond. An ambulance did become available from CMC and respond; however, while responding got lost. The ambulance eventually arrived on scene 20 minutes later! According to eyewitness statements, the 2 EMT's on the Toms River ambulance were quite "clueless" as to what to do. I guess paying them more per hour than police officers with a 4-year degree isn't really solving the problem, is it Dan?

This incident happened less than 3 minutes away and 1 mile away from the Silverton EMS building. 1 year later, and Mayor Rodrick will not allow Silverton EMS to be dispatched, no investigation, unlike the Holiday City Clubhouse with Councilwoman Lynn O'Toole that was raided by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, where they seized boxes of documents and computers!

BTW, there is STILL no ambulance on the barrier Island 24/7. You can get a pizza delivered faster than have an ambulance arrive at your home in your time of need in Silverton.

We can't wait to see the results of him getting involved in the hiring and promotional process for the Toms River Police Department. Look at what an abortion Toms River EMS has become.
