This Tuesday 9PM on The Cumbriana Show, Russ will be joined by popular Wigton band Antics!

Antics have had a jam packed year of gigs and recently sold out a headline gig at The Source Collective aswell as performing at Solfest.

Russ will be chatting to them about their upcoming headline gig at The Brickyard 26th September and all about their music experiences so far 🎶 🎵

They'll be a few of their best songs played on the show along with the regular playlist of the best of local music from all the talented acts in Cumbria.

Included on the playlist will be a new single from local musician Alanzon called Bathtub. He’s already released three songs, and his first EP is on the way in 2026. He describes his music as emotive and heartfelt, and if that’s your kind of vibe, you’ll definitely want to lean in for this one.

WOW! 😮 Just look at these beauties! 😃 Malted Caramel Squares! 😋 An absolutely gorgeous ‘Cake Of The Week’ for Paul Johnston’s ‘Sunday Cake Club’ this week! 🍰🤩 Why not try these yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Recipe below ⬇️

Malted Caramel Squares

Makes 16

Ingredients

FOR THE SHORTBREAD
150g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra to grease 75g caster sugar
150g plain flour
75g cornflour

FOR THE CARAMEL
150g malt extract
397g condensed milk
175g unsalted butter, chopped
125g caster sugar

FOR THE TOPPING
350g milk chocolate
40g dark chocolate

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4. Grease and line a 20cm square tin with baking parchment. For the shortbread, in a large bowl using a handheld electric whisk, beat the butter and sugar until combined. Sift in both flours and beat until just combined. Tip into the lined tin and press to level with the back of a spoon. Prick all over with a fork and bake for 25min, until golden. Leave to cool completely in the tin.

2. For the caramel, put all the ingredients in a medium pan over low-medium heat. Stir, using a spatula, until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat to medium and bubble, stirring all the time, for 10min, until the mixture is an even caramel colour. Carefully pour the hot caramel over the shortbread and spread to level. Leave to cool for 30min.

3. For the topping, melt the milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water, until smooth. Pour over the cooled caramel layer, smoothing with a spatula to level. Leave to set at room temperature.

4. Melt the dark chocolate as before. Pipe/drizzle over the set milk chocolate in a swirl pattern. Leave to set at room temperature. Transter to a board and cut into squares.

💪 This afternoon on the Late Lunch Marc Allan spoke to Charlie Shepherd about his boxing career.

He was fascinating to listen to and spoke about how he won 4 titles including British, Intercontinental, Commonwealth and IBO World titles.

He also broke the Guinness World Record for the most push ups in one hour - 😮

There'll be a slightly different sound to this Wednesday's Soul & Motown Show. Craig MacCarron is taking a couple of well deserved weeks off so Paul Braithwaite will be spinning the great songs. Paul has been delving into his collection of soul records that he used to boogie to at Carlisle's Cosmo Club and The Twisted Wheel/Pink Panther back in the day. Expect to hear tracks from; The Astors, Archie Bell & The Dells, The Poets, Bob Kuban, and the vocal performance to end all vocal performances, from Lorraine Ellison! Close the curtains, move the furniture back, roll up the carpet and prepare to be taken to where the music's playing. Join Paul from 7pm this Wednesday on CRFM.
