Good Tuesday evening, Maryland!

Winds today in some parts of the state approached 50 mph before slowly tapering this afternoon and evening. We still keep some of that wind around overnight into Wednesday but it's been a major improvement in the last couple of hours.

We've got a system (a trough of low pressure, to be exact) that'll be nearby tonight. That'll bring a chance for a few morning snow showers through our area. While this won't be a blockbuster snowstorm, some light accumulations could make roads and sidewalks slick for a bit in the morning to be careful heading out first thing. Temperatures for many will fall below freezing overnight.

In the final few hours of 2025, there will be a little breeziness and clouds overhead. Temperatures will be around 30° in the Baltimore area when the clock strikes midnight while southern Maryland will be closer to 40° as 2026 begins.

A reinforcing cold front moves through by Thursday morning and another quick round of a few snow showers is possible. New Year's Day will be colder with highs in the upper 20s to 30s (colder in the mountains). Winds pick up again on Thursday.

A LITTLE SNOW TO START NEW YEAR'S EVE 🌨️
A few brief snow showers are possible Wednesday morning here in Maryland. The chance is low and any accumulations will be light (if anything at all) but that's all you need to cause slick conditions on the roads.

A few more snow showers are possible again early on New Year's Day, too

Happy Sunday, Maryland!

A few showers are expected today with otherwise mainly cloudy conditions overhead. Post-holiday travel should be just fine for most with seasonally cool temps in most of the state outside of the mountains. Winds won't be too strong for most locations

Winds are expected to truly increase overnight into Monday. A High Wind Watch goes into effect Monday morning for Garrett and Allegany Counties for wind gusts that could surpass 60 mph through Tuesday afternoon. Farther east, wind gusts over 40 mph are possible.

Temperatures in many parts of the state will rise overnight into Monday morning. Highs on Monday will be seen during the morning hours. For many, it'll be a very mild December morning with highs in the 50s. Once a cold front moves through, temperatures will tumble in the afternoon. Strong winds will also still be in play, making for a chilly Monday afternoon.

Strong, gusty winds remain in place for Tuesday. Tuesday will be much cooler with highs in the 30s. It'll be chilly on Wednesday, too. We're still looking at a bit of wind for the midweek and New Year's eve here in Maryland but not quite as strong as Monday and Tuesday.

Good Monday evening, Maryland!

We are watching a few chances for (mainly) wet weather this week. The first comes along with a warm front that'll cross Tuesday morning. If you're up before daybreak you could see some light wintry mix before daybreak. This won't last all day and will actually transition to rain later in the morning. Areas that drop below freezing - north of US-50 heading closer to the PA state line - have the best chance for seeing the brief shot of wintry weather to start the day.

Rain moves out of Maryland completely by midday (out of the Baltimore area around 9-/10 am). Clouds stick around for most of the day.

Wednesday/Christmas Eve looks great! Weather cooperates for travel or shopping or simply enjoying a quiet day.

That changes Thursday. It's looking like a dreary day with showers in the morning and clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will be mild and warm to around 50°.

Another chance for wet weather comes on Friday. This system could also bring a bit of wintry weather. We'll have updates on air and online so keep checking back.
