“He graduated from Baltimore City College before striking out for fame and genius onstage. De Shields is coming back to his hometown to perform his life story alongside the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.”

Baltimore native André De Shields, winner of a 2019 Tony Award for his performance as Hermes in the Broadway musical Hadestown, returns to his hometown to tell the story of Charm City’s influence on his journey; he talks with us about it.

CASTING ANNOUNCED for August Wilson's "Seven Guitars"!

Returning to Arena Stage are Dane Figueroa Edidi (Choreographer for Arena’s "Nina Simone: Four Women") as Ruby, Joy Jones (Arena’s "Jubilee") as Vera, David Emerson Toney (Arena’s "Two Trains Running") as Hedley and Michael Anthony Williams (Arena’s "King Hedley II") as Canewell. Making their Arena Stage debuts are Roderick Lawrence (National Tour, Disney’s "The Lion King") as Floyd Barton and Roz White (Mosaic Theater Company’s "Marie and Rosetta") as Louise.

August Wilson's "Seven Guitars" begins November 26.
