Epic Philly Steak Cheese Fries! 🥩🍟🧅🧀 (Cheesy, Savory, & Totally Indulgent!)
Ingredients:
• 1 lb steak, thinly sliced (ribeye or sirloin recommended) 🥩
• 1 tsp garlic salt 🧄🧂
• ½ tsp ground black pepper 🌶️
• 1 green bell pepper, sliced 🫑
• 1 onion, sliced 🧅
• 8-10 slices White American Cheese 🧀
• 20 oz bag McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries 🍟
• 1 tbsp olive oil 🫒
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Cook the Steak:
o Heat an oven-safe skillet (cast iron works great!) over medium-high heat. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil.
o Once the oil is heated, add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Season generously with garlic salt and ground black pepper, stirring to coat the steak evenly.
o Cook the steak until it's browned on all sides and just cooked through (don't overcook, or it will become tough). Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
3. Prepare the Vegetables:
o Reserve about 1 tablespoon of the flavorful liquid (beef drippings) from the skillet and discard the rest. Return the skillet to the stove.
o Add the sliced green bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook in the reserved beef drippings until the vegetables are tender but the green bell pepper still has a slight crispness, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside with the cooked steak.
4. Layer the Fries and Toppings:
o Remove the skillet from the stovetop. Spread an even layer of McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries on the bottom of the skillet.
o Place 4-5 slices of White American cheese evenly over the layer of fries.
o Add a layer of the cooked steak and the sautéed green bell pepper and onion on top of the cheese.
o Repeat these layers: add another layer of waffle fries, followed by the remaining 4-5 slices of White American cheese.
5. Bake:
o Carefully place the oven-safe skillet into the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted, gooey, and bubbly, and the fries are heated through and slightly crispy.
6. Serve:
o Remove the skillet from the oven (be careful, it will be very hot!). Let it cool slightly for a minute or two before serving.
o Serve hot and enjoy your ultimate Philly Steak Cheese Fries! You can even add a drizzle of your favorite steak sauce or a dollop of cheese sauce on top for extra indulgence.
Tips for Extra Deliciousness:
• Cheese Variations: While White American is classic for Philly cheesesteaks, you can also use provolone or a blend of cheeses.1
• Steak Prep: For extra tender steak, you can quickly sear it and then slice it even thinner against the grain.
• Spice it Up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the vegetables while they're cooking for a bit of heat.
• Serving Size: This recipe can easily be adjusted for more or fewer servings depending on the size of your skillet and the amount of ingredients you use.
Enjoy this incredibly satisfying and decadent Philly Steak Cheese Fries! Must express something to keep getting recipes from NS Recipe 😋
