We got a brand new Fresh Blood feature with the red hot Good Teal outta New Jersey who just dropped their debut last month. For fans of Turnstile, Maximum Penalty and hardcore that is innovative while still holding on to the roots. Really high on what this band is doing. Check 'em out!

AUGUST 30, 2025
What's more hardcore than a show at your local VFW Hall? This was a "mostly" new Long Island Hardcore band showcase with 9 bands in total... all representing LIHC and totally FREE. The adjacent LIRR parking lot with close to 200 spots was absolutely mobbed. The folks at Nautilus Coffee were posted up outside in their mobile unit grinding and brewing, Ruby Soho's was slinging tacos and there was a donation table for back to school supplies. Damn Long Island... you did this one right. Shout out to Scanlon and all the bands involved for keeping it DIY. Heavy Hex has had my attention for well over a year now and their singer Dave Gastiaburo started their set off by putting his feelings about Long Island hardcore and this show in particular really out there which directly led to this Heavy Hex appreciation post. All live photos by the forever consistent Carl Gunhouse who has been shooting underground events beyond the world of hardcore punk for decades. We salute all mentioned in this post...
