📣 The Gull Next Door: A Story of Survival and Adaptation

Gulls aren’t just chip-stealing troublemakers - they’re smart, adaptable birds navigating a world shaped by us. 🐦 🌆

A new study from the Isle of May reveals how gulls are changing their habits as landfills close and coastlines shift. Using GPS trackers, scientists discovered that different gull species have surprisingly different strategies for survival.

From long-distance farmland flights to coastal power struggles, this story uncovers the hidden lives of one of Britain’s most misunderstood birds.

🔍 60 Years of Mystery - Solved!

A fossil misidentified for over half a century has just been revealed as a new species of Jurassic reptile: Sphenodraco scandentis 🦎

Discovered in the famous Solnhofen fossil beds of Germany, this ancient tree-dwelling reptile is the earliest known arboreal member of the rhynchocephalians - distant relatives of today’s tuatara from New Zealand. 🇳🇿

💡 The breakthrough came when a PhD student realized that two separate fossils in different museums were actually two halves of the same animal, split in the 1930s!

Modern imaging technology and museum collections helped rewrite the history of this long-lost creature.

🦖 Proof that even 200-year-old fossils can still tell brand new stories.

👀 Think venom is just for snakes and spiders? 🐍🕷️ Think again!

A bold new study from the Natural History Museum is shaking up everything we thought we knew about venom. From aphids that poison plants to slugs that manipulate mates, venom is now understood as a widespread evolutionary tool - not just a predator’s weapon.

🌿📖 Discover how this new definition could transform research in medicine, agriculture, and ecology.

🧟‍♂️ Prehistoric Zombie Fungus? Yes, Really.
Scientists have discovered 99-million-year-old parasitic fungi bursting from ants and flies preserved in amber. These ancient infections - eerily similar to today’s “zombie-ant fungus” - offer a rare window into prehistoric ecosystems.

🧬 Nature was weird even in the age of dinosaurs.
