Inscape: A Journal of Literature and Art Inspired by Gerard Manley Hopkins, Inscape is a literary journal that publishes fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art. We take submissions year round.

Inscape Journal is run and produced by students of Brigham Young University, publishing creative writing and art twice a year. Each fall, Inscape is published both in print and online, and each winter an additional issue is published exclusively online. Submissions are welcome during the first half of fall and winter semesters.

“Fish in the Greenhouse”by Jim Ross. Ross jumped into creative pursuits in 2015 after a rewarding career in public health research. In eight years he’s published nonfiction, fiction, poetry, photography, hybrid, interviews, and plays in nearly 200 journals on five continents. A graduate from Howard University, he was recently nominated for Best of the Net in Nonfiction and Art. He also wrote/acted in a one-act play and appeared in a documentary limited series broadcast internationally. Jim’s family splits time between city and mountains.

Roger Camp is the author of three photography books including the award winning Butterflies in Flight and Heat. His work has been awarded the prestigious Leica Medal of Excellence for European photography. His images have appeared in numerous journals including the New England Review, the Paris Review, and the New York Quarterly. Torrin Omokoh is a senior at Brigham Young University. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Fine Arts and has completed minors in Art History and Creative Writing with an emphasis in poetry. She lives happily in Provo, Utah, with her loving husband and affectionate cat.

Anna Pellerin is an LGBTQ+ writer from St. Martinville, Louisiana. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Creative Writing and English from Spring Hill College. Her short story “Broken Wing” received the college’s Richard Lynch award for best short story during the 2021–2022 academic year. Currently, Anna is an MFA student at Wichita State University, specializing in fiction. She is the assistant managing editor for the university’s literary magazine, Mikrokosmos.

“Offering” by Sue Latta, Fall 2024 Issue

Sue Latta is a determined and intuitive sculptor who creates visually poignant, skillfully executed artwork utilizing a variety of processes, including welding, woodworking, carving, casting and photography –she’s continually exploring new materials and processes in service of artistic expression.

Sue has held over 20 solo exhibitions. Her work is found in collections throughout the United States and Canada. She has served as an artist in residence for the City of Boise, the Livestrong Foundation, and the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY, and received grants from the Idaho Commission on the Arts, Boise City Arts Commission, ImageOut, Nevada Arts Counsel, and the Alexa Rose Foundation.
Sue owns The Sculpture Studio in downtown Boise where she teaches and mentors artists in welding, woodworking, and other artistic disciplines. She’s taught an array of art courses at Boise State University where she currently holds a position as a lecturer in the School of the Arts teaching Arts Entrepreneurship. She has proven herself as a valuable contributor in nurturing talent and appreciation for art as well as being a great example of a professional artist.

The Boise Weekly selected Sue as “Best Local Visual Artist” in 2015, an indication of her wide appeal. She is also committed to giving back to the community. She serves on boards, volunteers for causes, and follows her convictions from supporting those undergoing cancer treatments to championing marriage equality.
Sue is generous with her knowledge and bold in her convictions.

Chanel Earl received her MFA in Fiction in 2021. She is a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominated writer whose stories and essays have appeared in such publications as SmokeLong Quarterly, Granfalloon, The Account, The Fairy Tale Magazine (formerly Enchanted Conversations), and Wayfare.
