Cyril’s economy has made it hard for a lot of people and companies to celebrate days like Nelson Mandel Day or give back to the less fortunate, but if you can? Grab some clothes, shoes, books, toys, nonperishable items from your kitchen and donate to those who need it. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there’s a serious rise in homelessness in Johannesburg, children are begging at the traffic lights and there’s people loitering on corners looking for work. If you can make a difference in someone’s life today, please do.

Happy Youth Day🇿🇦. Today’s struggles are very different from the class of 76, unemployment, lack of opportunity after high school, drugs and alcohol abuse (they are destroying townships), the ever increasing cost of living that makes it hard for the youth to leave their homes to go look for jobs in the city and suburbs.

The internet has become a great way for the youth to make a living and it will play a very important role in the years to come in the fight against unemployment.

My plea is for the internet to become a basic human right, so that young people from all over the country can have access to it, use it to learn new skills and empower themselves. I am where I am today because I spent many hours watching tutorials and learning new skills. I’ve enjoyed playing video games since I was young, if it wasn’t for the class of 76 and the internet? I wouldn’t be where I am today. Happy Youth Day!

As we observe Freedom Day today, many people are yet to taste the many freedoms promised by the ruling party back in 1994 🇿🇦 . Funny enough what’s considered basic human rights, education, healthcare, safety, clean water, now has a hefty price tag that most citizens can’t afford to pay. Don’t get me started on Cyril’s economy and the cost of living… Sadly we are also starting to see the cost of corruption with the collapse of our basic infrastructure, which leads to the question, what will our beloved country look like in the next 10 years? If you made it this far, thank you for taking your time to read my little rant.

Most of the freedoms and rights we have today are because of the sacrifices of those who stood up peacefully against Apartheid on this day in 1960.

Before you braai later, enjoy your boozy brunch, run errands, etc. Here’s a quick history lesson on why we celebrate Human Rights Day.

March 21st marks the anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre, where police opened fire on a peaceful protest against the pass laws, resulting in the deaths of 69 people and injuries to 180 others.
