A federal judge tossed parts of the Pentagon’s restrictions on news outlets, saying they violated the First Amendment, in a lawsuit brought by The New York Times.

As if things are not bad enough with the Washington Post laying off a third of their newsroom, Rupert Murdoch and his cronies are opening a new west-coast version of the New York Post.
Good luck.
California hasn't had a screaming headline version of a newspaper since Scott Newhall's days, and west coasters are not used to reading papers during train commutes like those in the Big Apple. Also, California is Digital Country with most people getting their news online. Add to that the paper's conservatism and you have a formula for failure here.

The expansion of the Murdoch tabloid from its New York roots to the West Coast is the latest sign of the outlet’s national ambitions.

This has been rumored for some time but it represents a real loss for those who value the paper that is essentially the voice of Washington D.C. Sure, they are having financial problems like most other media outlets, but losing lots of subscribers after taking a pro Donald Trump stance is just plain stupid.
But frankly, a guy who has made billions trucking items to peoples front doors doesn't care about real journalism.

The Washington Post embarked on severe cuts despite appeals by the newsroom to owner Jeff Bezos. The paper is to narrow its focus largely to politics and national security.

Another newspaper closes due to economic problems. What will the people of Pittsburg do for local news ?

The family-owned company that operates the newspaper cited mounting losses and labor constraints. A final edition is expected on Sunday, May 3.
