COMING TOMORROW: For his 90th birthday, Terry Riley .for.terry.riley offers us a haunting Raga “Komol Reshab Asavari” — a spiritual sound meditation in response to nuclear threat. Featuring Sara Miyamoto

Celebrate 90 years with Riley through this meditative piece - a manifestation of his longtime teacher Pandit Pran Nath’s work.

Listen to this prime sneak preview track which will be part of a new collaborative Red Hot + release — a response to the dangers of nuclear war.

The release coincides with Kronos Quartet’s live performance on July 16, 2025 for the Nobel Committee’s Laureate Assembly at the University of Chicago.

Red Hot + Dance began in 1991 with a series of club parties around the world, the largest of which was in London featuring performances by Seal, Crystal Waters, Lisa Stansfield and many others. The events metabolized grief during the AIDS crisis and found real strength in gathering; they were filmed and made into a TV special directed by Mark Pellington that aired on MTV in U.S., Channel 4 in the U.K. and elsewhere around the world.

In 1992 came Red Hot + Dance — a groundbreaking remix album focused on club kids who were affected by the AIDS crisis in the early 1990s. It included tracks by Madonna, Seal, EMF and three originals contributed by George Michael including the smash hit “Too Funky”. The album featured a cover by Keith Haring, whose poster for accompanying live events you can see in the second slide.

Emma Sjöberg joined the biggest supermodels in the world in the video. This collab reminded me of how .nyc makes the fight for trans rights irresistible.
