Verses GT is the project, the group, the album, the live show, and the moving image-an all encompassing banner for a new collaborative world. There's a hazy, meditative weight to Verses GT, not in an overtly emotional way, but as the result of intention and purpose. The album is coupled with an understated confidence to strip things back, while the intrinsic duality of both artists as Verses GT means the album also surges with the energy of empathetic, connected body-music.

The majority of Verses GT was created in person in London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris, and in Montreal at Phillipe's studio, rather than virtually. "It's based on human relationships," Phillipe explains. In addition to George Riley, the album includes features from Kučka and TYSON and a collaborative art-working team of photographer-director Xavier Tera, creative director-writer Terence Teh, and artist-designer Erin D. Garcia. Verses GT is a singular yet wide-reaching dialogue between the duo, each prospective listener, and a shared, collective experience of making something real, together.

Scarecrow II, from San Francisco’s The Telephone Numbers, arrives on October 10th via ! Hear the new single “Be Right Down” wherever you stream great music and pre-order the album now on CD and Transparent Greenhouse Vinyl.

The Telephone Numbers have established themselves as a crucial part of San Francisco's fertile indie music scene, sharing members with The Reds, Pinks & Purples and The Umbrellas and a musical palette that takes in everything from the rootsier end of Byrds jangle to Lemonheads-tinged power-pop to the pop sophistication of bands like The Go-Betweens and The Church.

"Scarecrow Il" is their second album and a massive step forward for the band. Recorded by Alicia Vanden Heuvel at SF's Speakeasy Studios, this set of songs is deeper and richer, foregrounding the crafty tunes and lovely melodies, adding just-right bits of trumpet, violin and organ to the mix. With "Scarecrow Il" The Telephone Numbers have created a record overflowing with warmth, an earnest exploration of traditionalist pop that feels fresh, vital, and essential.

Since their emergence from Minneapolis’ vibrant underground in 2011, POLIÇA has carved out a singular space in electronic indie-pop, blending shadowy synths, pulsating rhythms, and the unmistakable vocal presence of Channy Leaneagh.

On their upcoming LP, ‘Dreams Go’, POLIÇA deliver their most emotionally resonant and texturally rich work to date—a poignant meditation on loss, resilience, and the fragile beauty of holding on. Written and recorded in the shadow of bassist Chris Bierden’s glioblastoma diagnosis, the album is both elegy and act of preservation, capturing the band at a moment of profound transition.

The LP is a collection of eight new songs recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota, marking the band’s final sessions with Chris Bierden before he lost the ability to play. The record pulses with a raw, elegiac energy, a testament to the chemistry that defined POLIÇA’s first decade.

Though born of grief, Dreams Go is anything but static. It breathes, shimmers, and ultimately insists on the power of making art in the face of uncertainty. Available in indie exclusive red vinyl, standard black and CD, ‘Dreams Go’ stands as a moving testament to the band’s creative bond, and to Bierden’s indelible role within it.

On THE BPM, Sudan Archives – real name Brittney Parks – embodies the concept that following your own muse is the surest route to artistic and personal fulfilment. If her last two albums looked to the past – she was both goddess and muse on 2019’s Athena, and wrote a p***y coming-of-age tale for 2022’s Natural Brown Prom Queen – THE BPM imagines a dazzling, chrome-plated future in which we’re all tapped into our own sense of rhythm. As she sings on the album’s title track and thesis: “The BPM is the power.”

THE BPM looks to Sudan’s mother’s roots in Michigan and her father’s in Illinois; it was partially completed in Chicago and Detroit, embracing the club sounds from those cities while taking in everything from Jersey club to contemporary global dance musics and experimental beatwork. The whole record is a family affair: Parks enlisted her sister, a cousin from Detroit, and one of her best friends to assist; exclusively working with people she knew intimately rather than bringing in producers from outside the fold.

On THE BPM she introduces a new persona: Gadget Girl, a technologically advanced musician who’s exalted by her embrace of technology. “I was never the girl in a band in high school – I could only express myself for the first time when I got my first iPad and started making beats on it, and when I got my first electric violin. I’m all gadget girled out now, but I’ve never felt so free as a human,” she says.

THE BPM explores themes of mental illness, self-love, technology, romance and heartbreak even as it embraces a raucous, party-starting energy. It also introduces a more clarified Sudan – an executive producer and artist moving with grace and gonzo confidence through her most fun, freewheeling record yet.

In a changing, unpredictable and turbulent world, something we can always rely on is a new Orb album, with the next holiday-for-the-head never far away. On what is quite possibly the millionth longplayer helmed by electronic lifer Alex Paterson; partnered with the now firmly-entrenched boy wonder Michael Rendall; the inspirationally productive outfit yet again deliver the goods, with one of their best yet.

"I was having a dream, and in this dream was an escalator descending out of the clouds, upon which were Buddhists and hipsters travelling downwards, and beckoning me down from the top, was Roger Eno. When I woke up, I had a text from him, asking if we fancied more collabs, so he's on the record, amongst other friends.

Recording the album and playing recent gigs have been comfortable, happy and therapeutic experiences, largely due to Michael Rendall, who's a genius that picks up anything he turns his hand to. We have a wonderful, simpatico relationship on record and on stage. Overall, the length, arc and energy of Buddhist Hipsters energy mirrors one our fans' faves, U.F. Orb." Alex Paterson

The album features Roger Eno, Miquette Giraudy & Steve Hillage (System 7 / Gong), Youth (Killing Joke), Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke), Andy Falconer (The Orb / Sedibus), Trevor Walters, Violetta Vicci, Eric Von Skywalker & Andy Caine.

As KT puts it, there's never been a moment when she didn't have rage. As the singer of Upchuck, the Georgia punk band whose music is as sharp as a scythe, KT has felt fierce energy inside her well before she had the band as an outlet through which to channel it. Upchuck's Domino debut is I'm Nice Now recorded at Sonic Ranch Studio in Texas with producer Ty Segall. But don't mistake newfound niceness for weakness. It's self-preservation. "In this world of constant distractions and stressors it's important to keep your mind, body, and spirit sane and sound enough to continue through this seemingly never-ending fight," she says. With I'm Nice Now, Upchuck channels their feverishness into an album that, yes, is filled with rage. But in addition to being a continuation of their musical exorcism, the album delivers a sharp critique of the powers that be, lamenting why they still have to be those in power.

are back! Their new album and first in a decade, Here and Nowhere, arrives on October 10th via . Hear the new single “The Ones” out now wherever you find music and pre-order the album now on CD & Vinyl.

Their first album since 2014's Fifth, Here and Nowhere picks up exactly where the band left off, infusing their breezy, harmony-drenched take on Laurel Canyon with lush orchestration and psychedelic flourishes. "It wasn't intentional," says Sansone. *We thought we'd take a short break from recording, but between our work with Wilco, other personal projects, and the disruption of the pandemic, ten years went by in the blink of an eye."

Recorded in two free-flowing sessions at Nashville's Creative Workshop, the album, produced and mixed by Pat Sansone, finds the band contemplating the passage of time, reckoning with what we lose, what we gain, and who we become along the way. "Old Hearts" blends melancholy reflection with a comforting glow, while "I'll Take You Out Of Your Mind" and "Ravens Of The Wood" hints at Big Star; the tender "Old Hearts" channels Fred Neil and Harry Nilsson; and the buoyant "In The Beginning," offering shades of Carole King's Tapestry.

Founded by John Stirratt (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo) and Pat Sansone (Wilco) and featuring longtime rhythm section James Haggerty (bass) and Greg Wieczorek (drums), The Autumn Defense first emerged with 2001's The Green Hour and has maintained the same core lineup for almost 20 years. While often categorized as a Wilco side project, the band's sound has always been decidedly more West Coast than alt-country.

Land Back!

An unadulterated opening statement intoned by Saul Williams three times, as he joins Carlos Niño & Friends in sound ceremony underneath black oak and walnut trees in Coldwater Canyon Park, Los Angeles, on December 18, 2024.

The performance, which was organized by Noah Klein of Living Earth on the grounds of longstanding conservationist organization TreePeople, was the first of its kind for longtime friends and collaborators Williams and Niño. The two have been in contact since 1997 and have worked on a variety of projects together, but had never been moved to present in this way. For the occasion, Niño assembled and directed an ensemble of frequent collaborators including Nate Mercereau (Guitar Synthesizer, Live Sampling with Midi Guitar, Sample Sources), Aaron Shaw (Flute, Soprano Saxophone with Pedals, Tenor Saxophone), Andres Renteria (Bells, Congas, Egyptian Rattle Drum, Hand Drums, Percussion), Maia (Flute, Vibraphone, Voice), Francesca Heart (Computer, Conch Shell, Sound Design), and Kamasi Washington (Tenor Saxophone).

A neighbor on death's door. A small town where people still say "hello." Friends in a barn attic, making music late into the night. These are the real-life stories that thread through Slow Cooker, the new full-length from Say Zuzu co-founder Jon Nolan. Rooted in community and recorded mostly live in the upstairs room of Newmarket, NH's Stone Church Music Club, the album feels handmade - woven from intimate jam sessions, spontaneous connection, and a shared love of storytelling.

It began as a "just for fun" project among longtime friends and grew into something deeper: an ode to slowing down, paying attention, and creating together. The result is a warm, welcoming collection for fans of folk-rock authenticity. Think front-porch honesty with the crackle of a lived-in LP.

Slow Cooker is set for release on September 19, 2025 via Strolling Bones Records.
