On her fourth album, Unclouded, Melody’s Echo Chamber embarks on a life-affirming new chapter with an album that celebrates the present moment, whatever state we find ourselves in. There’s a continuity that runs through Melody’s Echo Chamber’s brand of psychedelic pop going back to 2012’s self-titled debut but now comes a perfectly executed shaking up of personnel.

Unclouded’s impressive cast includes Swedish maestro Sven Wunder, who co-produced the record and contributed to the writing, bringing his unique sonic palette to the richly-textured canvas; Josefin Runsteen on strings, who brings her avant-garde smarts to the tableau; Dina Ögon’s Daniel Ögen on guitar and Love Orsan on bass who Melody describes as “masters of the velvet groove”; British drummer Malcolm Catto, collaborator with Madlib and DJ Shadow, and the powerhouse behind The Heliocentrics; and frequent collaborator Reine Fiske whose guitar parts can be heard throughout the record.

Last but not least, Leon Michels - the Wu-Tang, The Carters, Norah Jones and Clairo collaborator - worked with Melody on the album’s closer “Daisy”, a sparkling pop song plucked from the ether. El Michels Affair’s Grammy-winning mixer Jens Jungkurth was drafted in to bring everything to life.

Today, announces her debut film score for the Benny Safdie-directed The Smashing Machine, which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and tells the story of prolific UFC fighter Mark Kerr. The album will be released digitally on October 3rd via / A24 Music and physically on January 23rd, 2026. Pre-order it now on CD and Vinyl via the Redeye store, and the film will also be in theatres everywhere on October 3rd.

Whereas Sinephro’s compositions are free-flowing, the sounds for The Smashing Machine (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) were collaged by Sinephro playing synthesizers, harp, modular synths, and harmonium. The score was composed, arranged, produced, and mixed by Sinephro. Benny Safdie came to London for a recording session (which Nala described as one of her favourites) with her regular collaborators, such as James Mollison (Saxophone) and Nubya Garcia (Saxophone, Flute), Morgan Simpson (Drums), Sheila Maurice-Grey (Flugelhorn), and Lyle Barton (Rhodes, Synthesiser), Mark Mollison (Guitar), Dwayne Kilvington (Synth Bass) and strings played by Orchestrate. The musicians entered Safdie’s world, and were encouraged to play into the emotions of the film. For the title track, drummers Morgan Simpson and Natcyet Wakili performed drums live along to a fight scene, playing with a bristling, quick-footed aggressiveness as if they themselves were fighting: snares represent hits, a rumbling kick drum like a racing heart.

Although Sinephro’s music - meditative, ethereal, and vast - may seem like a paradoxical choice for a story about a wrestler, Mark’s story really resonated with Sinephro and she picked up on the hidden softnesses and emotions within the story. The score still sounds distinctively like Sinephro - spacious with steady warmth, gorgeous string arrangements, light-touch themes, unhurried harp - but intensified to match the film’s themes: pressure, fear of losing, addiction, pain, volcanic relationships, and feeling the high.

Secret Love, the new album from , arrives on January 9th via ! Pre-order the album now via the Redeye store on CD, Vinyl and indie exclusive Apricot Vinyl.

Produced by Cate Le Bon, Secret Love started life in Peckham rehearsal spaces, all members – frontperson Florence Shaw, guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton and bassist Lewis Maynard – writing, playing and responding to each other in the room: in Dry Cleaning, music and lyrics form an inseparable, generative whole. The follow-up to Stumpwork evolved through affirming sessions at Jeff Tweedy’s Chicago studio the Loft and explosive ones with Gilla Band’s Alan Duggan and Daniel Fox at Sonic Studios in Dublin, taking advantage of the sonic particulars of each space, and finally with Cate Le Bon at Black Box in the Loire Valley.

Secret Love is the finest expression yet of the profound friendships that created Dry Cleaning. Here, the south London four-piece take their place in rock’s avant garde, catalysing the Reaganite paranoia of early 80s US punk and hardcore with the dry strut of Keith Richards, stoner rock, dystopian degradation, playful no wave and pastoral fingerpicking, while Florence’s delivery, meticulously calibrated to her bandmates’ soundscapes, asserts her in a lineage of spoken-word artists stretching from Laurie Anderson to Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins.

(b. 1977, USA) is a composer, trumpeter, vocalist, santur player, and modular synthesizer artist whose innovative compositions blend elements of jazz, classical, and traditional Arabic music. His newly established label, .records, released its first album earlier this year, Maqam Al-Iraq, by legendary vocalist, Hamid Al-Saadi and is now following up with an album of ElSaffar’s work, New Quartet Live at Pierre Boulez Saal. Recorded live in Berlin in 2023, the album captures the ineffable magic of ElSaffar’s first encounter with Greek pianist Tania Giannouli, a star on the European jazz scene, alongside his NYC-based collaborators: acclaimed drummer and bandleader, Tomas Fujiwara, and saxophonist Ole Mathisen, who is also a featured member of ElSaffar’s Two Rivers and Rivers of Sound orchestra. The quartet merges Arabic maqām with jazz harmony and features microtonal and prepared piano. In addition to the concert itself, the album features alternate takes that were recorded at Pierre Boulez Saal the next day without an audience.

Vandelux is the musical project of Vancouver-born vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Evan White, known for fusing emotive vocals, shimmering keys, and pulsating beats into genre-blurring electronic pop. Using music as his main outlet for emotion and truth, he channels personal experiences into his songs, drawing listeners into his inner world.

Initially pursuing a career in finance, Evan lived in Luxembourg where boredom led him to experiment with loops on a music-making app. Those early experiments evolved into fully formed songs, and in 2016 he debuted as Vandelux with “Stimulus” and “Bright Lights.” He gained traction with the Lost In Common EP (2019) and Dream State EP (2021), the latter spawning “Matter of Time,” which surpassed 100 million Spotify streams and entered Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. His 2023 debut album When The Light Breaks received critical acclaim from outlets like Earmilk and YourEDM, who called it “the best electronic album of 2023 you probably haven’t heard.” He has collaborated with artists like Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Mansionair, Emmit Fenn, Nile Rodgers, and Kygo, and performed at major festivals including Outside Lands, Life Is Beautiful, and Bonnaroo.

Vandelux’s sophomore album Closer marks a new chapter, created largely in an attic studio while navigating new fatherhood. Its songs explore closeness—longing for connection or celebrating it. “Swimming In The Dark,” featuring his unborn child’s heartbeat, reflects the emotional shift of becoming a parent. Tracks like “Where You Are” address jealousy and self-comparison, while “Not Letting You Go” (feat. Devan Glover) fuses drum & bass with pop to capture reclaiming love. “Glow” celebrates fleeting highs of parenthood, urging himself to remember them.

Ultimately, Vandelux crafts music as personal therapy—authentic, emotional, and made to help listeners feel closer to themselves and each other.

On This Day, the new album from Tony Molina, arrives on November 14th via ! Pre-order it now via the Redeye store on CD and Vinyl.

Tony Molina has been putting out records with marked consistency for well over twenty years. Underpinned by an unwavering ethos of independence and an unrelenting devotion to songcraft, his music ties together a passion for the history and tradition of song writing/production with a steadfast work ethic and an uncanny ability to exemplify and transcend those inspirations. "On This Day" might be the most Tony Molina album yet - an achingly beautiful set of 21 songs that feels like a choice selection of lost singles (or deep cuts). The album was produced and recorded by Tony and Alicia Vanden Heuvel (The Aislers Set) to 8 track ½" analog tape in their San Francisco home studio. The album was augmented by contributions from live bandmates Rachel Orimo (vocals), Stephen Oriolo (guitar), and Steve Kerwin (drums), as well as long-time friend (and Ladybug Transistor founder) Gary Olson on trumpet. An unhurried home recording process gave them plenty of time to experiment and hone the arrangements, adding Mellotron, piano, organ, mellotron, bells, trumpet and more to exquisite effect. Timeless folk/rock gems alternate seamlessly with straight-up acoustic folk tunes, intricate classical guitar interludes and baroque/soft-pop delicacies. This is an album in the truest sense - a cycle of songs linked by mood, melody, hook and purpose, and not by accident it's Tony's finest yet.

How You Been, the new album from LA supergroup .band (bassist , synthesist , saxophonist , drummer , and guitarist ) arrives on November 7th via ! Hear the single “Taking out the Trash” today and pre-order the album now on CD and Black & Plankton Green Vinyl.

SML is the quintet of bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, percussionist Booker Stardrum, and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann. Their second album, How You Been, finds the supergroup of prolific composer/producers pushing ever further into the hyperrealist, collectivist approach to music creation nascently explored on their debut Small Medium Large, which was lauded as "awe-inspiring" by Glide, "exuberant" by the Los Angeles Times, and "an exciting milestone" by Pitchfork.

At inception the band inspired disparate but distinctive artist comparisons like Essential Logic, Oval, Herbie Hancock's Sextant, and electric Miles Davis, as well as assorted genre touchpoints like Afrobeat, kosmiche, proto-techno and new-jazz. With How You Been their work manages to both collapse and explode such derivatives, displaying a new, high resolution version of SML, fully-flowered into a new strain of sound, bound to incite its own copycats in due time.

It's important to note that SML's sound wasn't created in a vacuum. The band is part of an extensive community of creative musicians who collaborate in a multitude of ways. Los Angeles in the 2020s is a musical Petri dish in the same way that Cologne & Dusseldorf were for the birth of Krautrock;
Canterbury for progressive rock in late-60s; NYC for No Wave & the Downtown sound in the late 70s and 80s; Chicago for genreless, Tortoise-adjacent sounds in the 90s. The musicians of SML represent the core of a new school within the Los Angeles jazz and improvised music scene that seems to breed infinitely overlapping combinations, including Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet, the Uhlmann Johnson Wilkes trio, Anna Butterss's own band, and various other projects encompassing every single member of the SML, respectively.
