Shri Ram’s Grief in the Forest: A Tale of Love, Loss, and Destiny

After Sita was taken by Ravan, Rama’s heart was shattered. For four long months of the rainy season, he stayed in the forest with Lakshman—his mind constantly on Sita.

One day, overcome with sorrow, Rama turned to his brother and said:

“O Lakshman! The fate written by Destiny is now playing out. The queen of Kekaya must feel victorious now. I’ve lost everything—my kingdom, my father, my home—and now, the love of my life. Without Sita, I can’t return to Ayodhya. Without her, I don’t wish to live.”

He continued, grief tightening every word:

“Who knows what Destiny still has in store for me? We, born as royal princes in the line of Manu, are now wandering the forests like exiles. You left behind all comforts to walk with me—what karma brought this upon us? I don’t think any human has suffered as I have. I am drowning in this endless ocean of pain, with no boat to carry me across.”

He remembered how close he was to ruling Ayodhya—how fate turned everything upside down in a moment:

“The kingdom was nearly mine—glorious like Indra’s court—and now here I am, broken and banished. And Sita… she came with us with such innocent devotion. How will her soft, gentle soul survive in the cruel palace of Lanka?”

Rama’s voice trembled with fear and devotion:

“She is pure, she is strong. I know she would rather give up her life than let Ravana overpower her. And if she does… then I too will not live. What use is this body if my Sita no longer breathes?”

As Rama wept, his eyes full of love and pain, the ever-wise and steady Lakshman tried to comfort him with his words.

According to authentic astrological texts, Ketu—the shadow planet often associated with detachment, moksha, and karmic lessons—is symbolically linked with the bed.

✨ When a bride’s parents gift a bed to the couple, it’s not just a tradition—it’s considered an auspicious gesture. It is believed that as long as this bed remains in the home, Ketu’s energy will never turn malefic. The home stays protected from Ketu’s darker influences.

🔮 Who is Ketu?
Ketu is the south node of the Moon—a headless shadow planet in Vedic astrology. It represents spiritual growth, past-life karma, and detachment from material illusion. It is also linked with sons, grandsons, ears, spine etc. When balanced, Ketu can bring deep wisdom, but when afflicted, it can cause confusion, isolation, or sudden loss.

So next time you see this age-old tradition, know:
It’s not just furniture—it’s Vedic protection, wrapped in love and intention.

We speak of love.
We celebrate family.
We fight for freedom.

But what about them?

A cow cries for her stolen calf.
A pig spends his life behind cold iron bars.
Chicks chirp for their mothers…
only to be crushed or caged for profit.

They feel pain.
They feel love.
They feel fear.
Just. Like. Us.

Yet we cage them, eat them, wear them—
as if their lives mean nothing.

Is love only for humans?
Is freedom a right, or just a privilege of our species?

It’s not “just meat.”
It’s a broken family.
It’s a stolen life.

Let’s stop pretending that love has boundaries.
Because they were never meant to be slaves or Protein for our comfort and taste.

This tale, rooted in the Purana, narrates how the Divine Mother (Devi) aided Sudarshana in overcoming adversity, marrying Princess Sashikala of , and reclaiming his rightful throne in

🌿 The Exile of Prince Sudarshana:
Sudarshana was the son of King Dhruvasindhu of Kosala (Ayodhya) and Queen Manorama. After King Dhruvasindhu’s death, a power struggle ensued between two rival factions: King Yudhajit of Ujjain, father of Queen Lilavati, and King Virasena of Kalinga, father of Queen Manorama. Both sought the throne for their respective grandsons. In the ensuing conflict, King Virasena was killed, and Queen Manorama fled into the forest with young Sudarshana and a eu**ch attendant, seeking refuge in the hermitage of Sage Bharadwaja .

🕉️ Divine Intervention and the Power of “Kleem” :
While in the hermitage, Sudarshana began chanting the sacred syllable “Kleem,” the Bija Mantra associated with the Divine Mother. This devotion pleased Devi, who appeared to him, granting divine weapons and her blessings .

👑 The Swayamvara of Princess Sashikala:
Around this time, King Subahu of Benares was organizing a swayamvara (a ceremony where a princess chooses her husband) for his daughter, Princess Sashikala. Emissaries from Benares, passing through Sage Bharadwaja’s hermitage, were impressed by Sudarshana’s demeanor and recommended him as a suitor. Despite his exile, Sudarshana attended the swayamvara, and Sashikala chose him as her husband.

⚔️ Conflict and Divine Protection:
The marriage angered King Yudhajit, who, along with his grandson Shatrujit, attacked Sudarshana and King Subahu. In the ensuing battle, the Divine Mother intervened, appearing on a lion and annihilating Yudhajit and his forces with a mere breath

🏰 Return to Ayodhya and Coronation

With his adversaries defeated, Sudarshana returned to Ayodhya. The citizens welcomed him, and he was crowned king. He established a temple dedicated to the Divine Mother in Ayodhya, ensuring her worship became integral to the kingdom’s spiritual life

Ancient Indian Marriages weren’t arranged, they were VIBES.
Swipe left on the myths—let’s talk facts!

Back then, girls (yes, even princesses) had their say in who they married. It was called Svayamvara – basically the OG version of reality show meets warrior Tinder.

There were 3 cool ways this went down:

1. Icchā Svayamvara – “My choice, my rules.” The girl simply picked who she vibed with.
2. Paṇya Svayamvara – “Prove your love.” Like when Shri Ram broke Shiva’s bow to win Sita’s hand. Total gym bro moment.
3. Vīra Svayamvara – “Battle of the best.” Suitors fought, raced, or showed strength. Winner gets the queen (and the crown, maybe).

Love was fierce. Respect was mutual. Choice was real.

One day, Radha playfully complained to Krishna, *”Why do people always say you are more beautiful than me?”*

Krishna smiled and said, ”Beauty is not just in appearance, Radha. Let me show you.”

He took a brush and began painting Radha’s face with different colors. Amused, she let him, thinking it was just another one of his playful acts. But when she looked into the river, she saw that Krishna had painted her to look exactly like him—dark-skinned and radiant.

”Now you look just like me, Radha. Do you love yourself as much as you love me?” Krishna asked with a smile.

Radha realized the depth of his question. Love is not about comparing or competing—it’s about seeing the divine in each other and accepting one another completely.

Modern-Day Lesson:
In today’s world, many relationships suffer because of unrealistic comparisons and societal standards. Krishna teaches us that true love is about embracing each other as we are, rather than trying to fit into someone else’s idea of perfection. When love is pure, there is no need for comparison—only deep acceptance.
