Associated Poetry Associated Poetry is Emily Cooper, the female Jon Stewart of poetry. One topical, usually humorous poem is posted every 2-3 days.

The name Associated Poetry was coined on January 21, 2013. After seeing Richard Blanco read at Obama's inauguration for his second term, I was brainstorming an idea for a blog that would follow the zeitgeist of our country’s politics, down to a particular week or day. My poetic career began in elementary school, but these poems are my first foray into the political genre. The most exciting aspect

of starting the blog was coming up with a name for it. I wanted one that would be taken seriously by the public at large and any potential syndicators, but would also leave me the freedom to write as I wished. I didn’t want to be confined to a particular cause or issue, but rather write poetry “associated” with the times in general. I got significant naming help from the Associated Press, which is a newswire that makes people think of unbiased, serious reporting. Of course, my poems have a bias – generally quite left of center – but with a humorous bent that will, ideally, appeal to people at many points in the spectrum.
