President John Dramani Mahama announces first batch of Ministerial Nominees.
President Mahama's administration is off to a swift start. Just as Parliament had established a committee to vet his ministerial appointments, he announced his first nominees. The Appointments Committee, comprising the First Deputy Speaker as Chairman and up to 10 other Members, would review and recommend approval or rejection of the President's choices.
The first three nominees were impressive, to say the least. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, a renowned economist, was tapped to head the Finance Ministry. His extensive experience in public finance and macroeconomics made him an ideal candidate to steer Ghana's economy.
Next was Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, a seasoned expert in energy economics, nominated for the Energy Ministry. His expertise would be crucial in addressing Ghana's energy challenges.
Lastly, Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayini, a distinguished lawyer, is nominated as Attorney General and Minister for Justice. With over three decades of experience, he is well-equipped to lead Ghana's justice sector.
As the Appointments Committee began its vetting process in the coming weeks, the nation watched with anticipation, eager to see if these nominees would receive the nod to join President Mahama's cabinet.
