SF Prog: Found that 720 attempt in OB that was our first indication that this kid was special. He went on to break 6 boards on this trip and was buying replacements off the rack when we’d stop at surf shops. The Champ 10 years ago 🫡🙌🏼🤘🏼🏆

In 2015 we picked this Brazilian kid up at the Denny’s next to LAX, threw him in a van with a bunch of people he didn’t know and drove him to San Francisco for a magazine trip. He stole our hearts immediately. He hardly knew English, his entire sweet family waved farewell, trusting us and our already sandy and stinky van with his future.

From there he stole the show, tried 720s at huge Ocean Beach, rolled with every strange thing that happened on the trip, surfed his brains out, hung out with everyone, skated, strummed guitars and was crooning to Nirvana a week later as we limped back into to LA in a sandy van full of broken surfboards and skateboards. Congrats you legend , you deserve this so much 🏆Photos: and
