RNC 2024 is a serious worry. Say DeSantis is the nominee. I can see the MAGA folks following along with that. The real trouble will be the Rules and Platform fights. The old-guard conservatives like me--those pushing for broad-strokes platform planks and for Rules that emphasize caucuses over primaries while still trying to accommodate the needs of blue-state Republicans-- are all gone. Even if we wanted to come back and waste thousands of dollars being harassed and threatened, we aren't likely to win local delegate selection races.

1. Greet the Chairman of the party by kneeling and proclaiming “Hail Cesar!”

2. Greet the nominee with a N**i salute (no matter how fitting).

3. I may not declare that I am Boadicea reborn, here to save my people from oppressive invaders.

4. Request my caffeine intravenously.

5. Beg the Secret Service to “Just please shoot me now”.

6. Loudly compare the food services offered at the RNC and DNC conventions.

7. Imply that we are feasting on the unborn when being served eggs for breakfast.

8. I will cease saying “Bless your heart” to “damned Yankees” immediately.

9. I will cease referring to any delegate from North of the Mason Dixon line as a Damned Yankee

10. Taunt the delegates from California.

11. Demand to see the citizenship papers of delegates from New Mexico.

12. Being offered whiskey when I asked for Bourbon is not an offense punishable by death.

13. I am not allowed to vote for Sweet Meteor of Death

14. I am not allowed to encourage others to vote for Sweet Meteor of Death

15. Clothing is NOT optional on the convention floor.

16. I may not scream “Off with their heads” when other delegates disagree with me.

17. “Let them eat cake” is not a valid Platform resolution.

18. I shall not refer to the Chief of Staff for a United States Senator as a “noob”.

19. Never dare a Texan.

20. Greeting the delegates from Oklahoma with the “Hook `em Horns” hand gesture is not advised.

21. I am not authorized to drive the charter bus.

22. Protestors are not “unruly peasants”.

23. I am not authorized to “disperse these unruly peasants”.

24. My job as a delegate is not to “drive my enemy before me and hear the lamentations of their women”.

25. “Will vote 4 food” is not an acceptable T-shirt slogan.

26. “Will trade my vote for sweet sweet loot” is also not an acceptable t-shirt slogan.

27. Woopie cushions are strictly forbidden on the convention floor

28. I am not authorized to act as an “agent of secession” for my state.

29. I will immediately cease demanding to see the birth certificate of every other delegate.

30. I am not authorized to form a “delegate’s militia”

31. I will not shout “UNCLEAN” at another candidate’s delegates.

32. I will not taunt the Secret Service with free bus tickets out of town.

33. I am not compelled by the Lord to lay hands on protestors in order to drive off demons
34. Trial by combat is not an acceptable form of voting.

41. Deustchland Uber Alles is not the National Anthem.

42. Metal detectors are not agents of Satan.

43. I do not have shrapnel from the Revolutionary War in my hip that precludes the use of metal detectors.

44. I will not refer to my state chairman/woman as “Dear Leader”.

45. I will cease demanding “the finest muffins and bagels in all the land” from the floor ushers.

46. I have not personally met Thomas Paine, Samuel Adams, or Patrick Henry and I will cease telling candidates “You are not him”.

47. No, I may NOT suggest binding our Platform in cute little books with red covers.

48. I may not whip votes for the institution of a dance-off for the Presidential nomination.

49. “Let’s blow this joint” is not acceptable wording for the Motion to Adjourn.

50. I am absolutely forbidden to chain myself to other delegates and shout “Give us us Free!”
