To the Editor, Hartman is under siege—not just by individuals violating the law, but by institutions refusing to enforce it. At the start of the year, I personally contacted the Sheriff’s Departmen…

Shout out to our newest advertiser: Gelded Weasel Junk Removal.
Got a porch full of junk? Let Gelded Weasel Junk Removal move discarded trash from your porch to theirs…because their neighbors already hate them, so your garbage might as well find a new home in their backyard.

The Fourth of July has come and gone, and you all didn’t disappoint. With no big county fireworks show this year, many of you stepped up with some truly spectacular “personal” productions. Let’s be honest, some of your backyard displays could’ve rivaled the Olympics. Not bad for a town without a single professional pyrotechnician on the payroll.

That said, there’s a lot to unpack. One officer had a man serenade him with “Daddy Cop” by Zander Hawley. It was oddly touching, only slightly off-key, and confusing enough to raise some eyebrows. There were the usual traffic stops, the occasional complaint, and yes, a literal dumpster fire. We’re not even speaking metaphorically. It was, in fact, an actual flaming dumpster.

And then, of course, there were the fireworks. Some were legal. Some were not. Some hovered in that gray area we’ll call “questionable legality.” The important thing is that, despite it all, we believe that everyone made it through the night safely and we don't believe anyone new will have to use fingers and toes to count to 10. For that, we are thankful.

Now here’s the reminder: the Fourth is over. The grace we gave you yesterday doesn’t carry over like rollover minutes. If you're still lighting up the sky tonight, tomorrow, or next weekend, expect a different tone from us. Fireworks, especially the big boom kind, are illegal for a reason. They pose risks to property, pets, and people. They also have a magical ability to turn a happy neighbor into someone filing a formal complaint at 2 a.m.

So, please, keep it classy. Store away the leftovers and save the fuses for next year. Celebrate responsibly, be kind to your neighbors, and let’s all enjoy a return to the peace and quiet that some of us have been praying for since about 9:15 last night.

We appreciate you, Springfield. As always, stay safe and don’t be the reason we have to write the next press release.

This wasn’t the fight to pick.
This isn’t a fight Bent will win.
Karl wanted to change his name.
Skewing this as sTaNdinG uP fOR wAtER riGhTz to the uneducated masses will result in Bent citizens being burdened with a lawsuit they won’t win against a man who can out spend them in legal fees.
The time to stand strong against the water grift largely passed while these three “decision makers” were off doing Fek-all for their communities. But now they know better. 😂🤡🤡
Batter up! Karl’s attorneys are warming up in the bullpen.

A company that applied for a name change on a 1041 permit in Bent County is told "No." https://www.coloradonewsyourway.com/post/denied-bent-county-commissioners-reject-a-request-by-av-farms
