We just launched something brand new: CaptureRelay — https://www.capturerelay.app
For years, I’ve encouraged radio stations to build a library of original local images — police and fire vehicles, city buildings, schools, landmarks, community events, and all the other things they may suddenly need a photo of when news breaks.
Everyone loves the idea. The problem has always been ex*****on.
Taking the photo is easy. It’s everything that comes afterward that gets in the way. Send it to yourself. Download it. Rename it. Resize it. Optimize it. Log into WordPress. Upload it. Add a title and alt text. By the time you think through all of those steps, it becomes something you’ll “do later.”
And later usually never happens.
That’s why we built CaptureRelay.
With the CaptureRelay mobile app and free WordPress plugin, the entire process becomes shoot, title, send. Take a photo or choose one from your phone, frame it, give it a useful title, and send it directly to your WordPress Media Library — properly sized and optimized as a WebP or JPEG.
No emailing photos to yourself. No WordPress login on your phone. No resizing. No extra trip to the computer.
And while the idea grew out of a problem I kept seeing in radio, CaptureRelay is not a radio product. It’s for anyone with a WordPress website who regularly takes photos in the field — realtors, landscapers, contractors, news organizations, schools, churches, municipalities, sports organizations, and plenty of others we probably haven’t thought of yet.
The WordPress plugin is free. The iOS/Android app is a one-time purchase.
If getting photos from the real world into your WordPress website has ever felt like more work than it should be, take a look:
