On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Mississippi. This August 29, 2025, we mark 20 years. Just weeks away.
If you didn’t experience it, you’ll never truly understand. We didn’t just flood, we were wiped off the map. Entire communities gone. Schools, jobs, homes, businesses, roads… all destroyed. No food. No water. No power. No fuel. No healthcare. Nothing.
Two decades later, there are still empty lots and slabs, as well as concrete steps where houses used to be. Still Katrina’s impact is felt today.
