Troubled Times Ahead For The US
20 million jobs have been lost, thanks to the US government weak response to the virus, and only some of the jobs will be regained when the country reopens. The Democrats have chosen 77 year old Joe Biden to run as their candidate for President. Age is not so much the problem, as is the fact that Joe Biden represents politics as usual in Washington DC. Biden is funded by the corporations, and will continue to do their bidding, instead of representing the people. Someone like Bernie Sanders was needed, but his ideas and views were considered to radical by the Democrat voters.
One of the best ideas that Sanders had was to make university free for the people. Many people do not choose to even prepare for university because they know their families cannot afford it, so that idea would have definitely increased education throughout the country. Having more educated people would have helped the country in many ways, especially increasing economic activity, which is something that is going to be a problem in the coming years for the US.
The main problem with the US economy is that the US buys more things than it sells. It does not produce products to sell to other countries, yet all the products that Americans buy are made in other countries. The US gets the product, other countries get the money, but the US hardly gets any money. Money is constantly leaving, never to return. Since the US does not make products, there are no jobs in manufacturing, or hardly any. There are many warehousing jobs and companies to receive all the product coming in from other countries. Many of the workers there, and all the rest of the population that did not get a university career would be better paid manufacturing the products Americans buy from other countries. However, the US no longer produces much, and that started in the 1990s, American companies just stopped working for the American people, owners grew in their greed. A lot of that had to do with the fall of the Soviet Union, and the end of the Cold War. If the US does not produce anything to sell, it will get poorer and poorer, with only a small group of rich elite, manipulating the people of the US for their gain.
The US was the leader of the world for many decades after World War 2,but it lead through aggression, intimidation, and much violence. The countries of the world do not want the US to lead the world much anymore because the US makes decisions that benefit mostly the US above all others. It causes death and destruction through wars of profit, that ended up costing more than they gained. They cost a lot of credibility and trustworthiness from the international community, such as the "Iraq has weapons of más destruction, or WMDs" fiasco. The US still owes trillions of dollars for that war, as they fought it on credit. Many pressures indicate that the US must focus on repairing its society. It needs to reduce its footprint on the international stage, it just does not have the power it once did. Make America Great Again was not put into practice, it was a good campaign slogan for some, but no real changes to the system were made, except more tax cuts for the rich. Hopefully, the US will rid itself of the fantasy world of Donald Trump this year as he represents crony Capitalism to the fullest, and as we have learned during this virus outbreak, he cannot lead America in any positive way. It is incredible that such a performance would have him still with a possibility of being reelected, but such are the times for America, times of trouble.
