This dude is an Actor, no doubt. But OMO, I still don't rate him a SERIOUS ACTOR.Because what exactly is this man doing with this permanent dreadlock all back and curve in all his movies 🎥. Both CEO, husband, pl***oy, friend, rich man, poor man,the same permanent dreadlocks. At some point, you have to ask: Where is the CHARACTER?
An Actor isn't supposed to simply change clothes and repeat the same appearance in every production. Characterisation requires transformation. Hair, costume, grooming, posture, movement, voice, mannerisms and overall physical presence can all contribute to making a character believable. Someone once told me, “Him never ready to really become an Actor. When him don ready, we go know.” Honestly, that statement makes sense.
Because when an Actor is truly serious about the craft, you can SEE the difference between the person and the character. But here, the dreadlocks arrive before the character, stay with the character and leave with the character. And producers, please, WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE SEEING?
Nobody is saying an actor must change his entire face for every role. But there is something called character design. Hair, costume, body language, grooming, speech pattern, posture, mannerisms, these things help create a believable character. If every role looks like the Actor simply walked out of his house, wore a different shirt and came to set, then that's not versatility. That's repetition being mistaken for acting.
Oga, when you are truly ready to become the character, we will know. Until then, keep flexing the same dreads in different movies.
