Behind the shoot: why I froze a brow gel for .essentials

When I shoot products, I like to lean into concepts that do more than just look good – they tell you something about the product before you even read the copy.

Forme’s Brow Hold is all about locking your brows in place from AM to PM – clear, flake-free, and unmoving. So I froze it. The ice became a simple, visual metaphor for the strength and staying power of the formula.

Styled, shot and directed by me – and yes, it was as cold as it looks (especially in the middle of winter).

The wins, the work, and the behind-the-scenes – here are 6 moments that shaped my 2025 (so far).

I always tell my clients: people connect with people. That means showing up. Being seen. And becoming recognisable.

But for a long time, I kept myself behind the lens, behind the strategy docs, behind the camera roll.

Why? Because it was more comfortable.

And maybe you’re the same – you know the value of showing your face, but you hesitate. You’re busy. Or it just feels… like a lot.

I get it.

Lately, I’ve been posting more. Sharing more. Testing what actually feels valuable to you.

And the biggest reminder? The thing that builds a brand isn’t perfect content – it’s connection.

So here I am, taking my own advice.

May was a BIG one – it always is with Fashion Week – but I wasn’t expecting to be out for two weeks with the flu!

✨ Work Wins: Fashion Week in Sydney was an absolute whirlwind! I shot four photography jobs while I was there, and the energy on the ground was electric. I’m so grateful to the clients who booked in with me that week – making the week-long trip to Sydney possible. Fashion Week remains a true highlight of my year, and there’s something so special about returning to my old stomping ground in Sydney. Looks like more Sydney trips are definitely on the horizon!

🎬 Behind the Scenes: Still deep in the house-hunting rabbit hole – and wow, it’s taking up more headspace than I ever imagined. Juggling that alongside work and travel has been a lot, but I’m learning to stay grounded and trust the process. What’s meant for you won’t pass you by, right?

🚗 Personal Life: One of the best parts of the last month has been reconnecting with close friends across cities. One of the perks of being self-employed is the flexibility to make time for catch-ups when friends are in town, and it’s reminded me just how special those friendships are – especially when life is full and travel is frequent.

💡 What I Learned: I often remind my strategy clients that people connect with people – not just perfectly curated content. And yet, I wasn’t taking my own advice… until now. It’s been so encouraging to see how much you’ve resonated with the more unfiltered moments – from the everyday behind-the-scenes to the thoughts and reflections I’ve started sharing more openly. Showing up like this has been a joy, and a powerful reminder that real connection is built through honesty, not perfection. I’ll definitely be keeping it real moving forward.
