Apparently I’ve been training all wrong… 👀😂

I go to the gym. I sweat. I complain about thrusters. I leave feeling like I’ve done something productive. 😂

But am I actually getting any stronger or fitter?!

So MAGNI FITNESS - Personal Training Tunbridge Wells actually tested me. Strength, power, how I move, where I’m strong… and where I clearly need a bit of work. 😂

There were machines, barbells, ropes....There were graphs. There were numbers. I nodded along like I knew exactly what they were talking about. 😂

But THIS is the bit I love…

You start with an ASSESS session so you know exactly where you’re starting from.

Then you get 4 weeks of UNLIMITED personal training, mixing BUILD sessions for strength with BREATHE sessions for fitness and endurance.

And then… they test you all over again. 👀

So no staring in the mirror wondering if anything has changed. 🫠

You actually get to SEE whether all that sweating, lifting and complaining has done anything. 😂

Small Business Saturday ✨️

Today we are celebrating Botanica Health - a family-run business built from a lifelong passion for natural health, herbal medicine and generations of family knowledge. Enjoy! 🤍

🍃 Tell us about your journey from the business idea to launching the business.
I never actually had a business plan, we both just loved our subjects. My husband needed a practice for his physio clinic and we just thought perhaps we could have a natural health shop too, something I ran in Scotland. Medicine is literally in my blood. All down my father’s bloodline, all the way back to 1803 the men were all doctors. My father gained his degree in Medical Herbalism in his mid 40’s, and I worked with him from around the age of 17. He still works full time at 89. Fifteen years ago, after we moved from the North of Scotland, we opened Botanica. With ancestral knowledge behind me, and 30 years of experience we opened, and hoped for the best!

🍃 What's been your biggest achievement since starting your business?
That as a small, family run business we have stood the test of time. The day we opened an elderly lady from the village came in and told me she didn’t think it would last, but here we are. But even more than that, I feel so humbled that we have changed some peoples lives for the better. There is no greater wealth than health as the saying goes. There is nothing more powerful than being an advocate for your own health. I hope we have shared valuable life affirming health education that has changed lives for the better.

🍃 What inspired you to start the business?
Over the years in my father’s clinic I witnessed people getting well through herbal medicine and lifestyle changes. I wanted to share what I had learned because it is so exciting. The body has an amazing capacity to heal given the right environment. The study of epigenetics shows that our health is influenced more by our environment than by our genes. I am inspiredly by this simple fact every day and want to inspire others.

And apparently… the woman expecting a sudden cold snap in Ibiza🧦

Meanwhile actual me needed a bikini, sunglasses, SPF and money.

The swimming goggles though. I LEFT THE CHILDREN AT HOME AND STILL BROUGHT THE GOGGLES. ONCE A MUM ALWAYS A MUM .... CAN'T BE DEPROGRAMMED! 😭😂

✈️🌴 The Tunbridge Wells Mummy is going on tour…

This started with a very innocent “I need a holiday” conversation…

Fast forward and somehow we’ve booked Ibiza 😂

No kids. No husband. Just me, my mum mate, a suitcase I definitely overpacked and absolutely no idea what we’re doing.

Will we make the flight? Will we remember how to be adults without children? Will I pack something other than leggings? 👀

24 hours before Ibiza… and I’m doing everything except packing ✈️😂

Tomorrow I fly to Ibiza for my first EVER kid-free holiday… and somehow my suitcase is still not packed! 👀

Instead I’ve:

🍑 Done one last b***y workout - NOT sure why I thought this was urgent!

✨ The all glitter jeans I bought on hols last year are out and the question is - ARE THEY COMING TO IBIZA??? They still have the tags on because… where exactly does a mum wear glitter jeans? Baby class? The school run? Tesco?

🧺 Cleaned the house and put the laundry away because future me deserves better 😎

💸 Posted my £2 Vinted parcel like the boss woman I am (basically running a fashion empire now)

🛒 Built a supermarket because obviously that couldn’t wait either 🤣

Have I packed yet?
Absolutely not 😂

My ADHD brain has decided that everything else was an emergency first 🙃 anyone else with an iver active adhd brain???

✨️ Introduce yourself
My name is Kate and I have been a holistic beauty therapist in Tunbridge Wells for over 25 years.
I have lived in this area all my life and now live in the town centre where I run my business. I have a wonderful client base of men and women of all ages, and I love meeting new people. Being self-employed and bringing up a family I am aware of the stresses of our busy lifestyles - so my treatments focus on overall wellbeing and relaxation.

✨️ Favourite local business and why?
One of my favourite local businesses is palette_pizza_and_art . This is a family business run by Erica who is also an amazing local artist. The food is delicious and the atmosphere has a lovely friendly vibe.

✨️ Favourite hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells
My hidden gem is Vineyards in Groombridge with Café, Tasting Room & Tours. I love to meet up with friends and walk through the fields, ending up at the vineyard for a coffee or more likely a glass of w**e!

✨️ What’s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is a cinnamon bun from GAIL's - although I don’t believe that any pleasure should come with guilt.

✨️ Best mum hack
I have always tried to have an honest and open relationship with my children. And always bring the fun and laughs.
