I’m Alex, mum of two girls (7 & 10) and I am the face behind &

I am rubbish at these kind of introductions as the imposter syndrome in me kicks in!! But here I go… I am super passionate about outdoor education (I have an Early Years background) and providing meaningful experiences for children and adults to enjoy time outside in the woods! I offer stay & play sessions in the school holidays, traditional skill workshops, birthday parties, foraging walks and women’s wellbeing events. I think women in particular, fail to put their needs before others and I try to create space for women to take a moment for themself away from the hustle and bustle of life, because it’s all a bit much sometimes!

🌲 Favourite local business and why
So many amazing local businesses to choose from but is my go to perfume stop (as well as being a kick ass women’s strength trainer over at .revivalpt)

🌲 Favourite hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells
is where you will find me inhaling an obscene amount of amazing sushi! It’s one of the few restaurants that causes an involuntary happy dance when I visit!!

🌲 What's your guilty pleasure?
Going against the grain when it comes to weekend activities… no soft play for me, I’ll be hanging out with learning how to make stinging nettle wine or going to fairy festivals!

🌲Best mum hack you'd like to share with us?
I’m not sure I’ve ever hacked mumming. I am fortunate to have worked with children for a long time so am pretty clued up when it comes to development and strategies… BUT, it’s always easier said that done and now I’ve got a pre-teen girl - send help!!

Small Business Saturday ✨

This week on the spotlight we have a brilliant local business keeping the mums of Tunbridge Wells, and wider, SANE because....umm kids! 🤯

It is such a pleasure to introduce to you the gorgeous Claudia behind the amazing .uk. Sip and enjoy! 😉

🍷 Tell us about your journey from the business idea to launching the business.

My husband and I first launched our business while living in Jersey, in the Channel Islands, where we spent about 15 years there. It was there that we were introduced to Portuguese wine through some friends—and we completely fell in love with it.

Jersey has a vibrant Portuguese community, and we quickly found ourselves enjoying the food, culture, and especially the wine. With so many locals already appreciating Portuguese wines, we thought why not turn our passion into something more?

That’s how the idea for our business was born.
We later relocated to Tunbridge Wells due to my husband’s work in London. At that point, I made a big decision, I left my job in Jersey to take over VINIFY.UK full-time. That’s when the business truly began to take shape and grow.

Today, we import boutique wines mainly from Portugal, but we also offer a carefully curated selection from Italy, France, Spain, Austria and Chile. We collaborate with a handful of small, like-minded importers. Our focus is on sustainably produced and organic wines. We love working with small vineyards that share our values and passion for quality, authenticity, and sustainability.

🍷 What's been your biggest achievement since starting your business?

A highlight of my journey so far has been the opportunity to host a Portuguese wine tasting at an exclusive members’ club in London—a real milestone for me and for VINIFY.UK.

🍷 What inspired you to start the business?
VINIFY.UK was born from more than just a love of wine. It was inspired by the way wine brings people together. Sharing a bottle often marks joyful, meaningful moments, and I wanted to be part of that.
We also believe in mindful enjoyment. As proud members of the Wine in Moderation programme, we promote responsible drinking and thoughtful appreciation.
