One thing that immediately tells me someone wasn’t raised right is how they treat people who have nothing to offer them in return. I’m talking about how they speak to the waiter at a restaurant, the cleaner in the office, the gateman, the okada man, or even a child. If you look down on someone just because of their job or social status, that says more about your upbringing than anything else.
Some people think having money, education, or dressing well means they’re “well brought up.” But real values are seen in the way you treat people you don't need. If you can’t say “please,” “thank you,” or offer help to someone in need without showing off or expecting praise, something is missing.
Sadly, many people wear good perfume but stink in character. They think being loud, rude, or arrogant makes them look important. But in truth, it only reveals that respect, humility, and empathy were never taught to them — or worse, were taught but never absorbed.
It’s not always about being perfect. We all have flaws. But certain things like basic courtesy, respect, and kindness are foundational. If you missed those lessons growing up, it shows — loud and clear. And no matter how far life takes you, how you treat others will always reflect where you truly came from.
