Palace Roller Skating Rink – Philadelphia

We remember Palace from the late ’70s into the ’80s—when roller skating wasn’t a trend, it was a way of life. This was where Philly came to move, to be seen, and to feel the music. Roller disco ruled the floor, the DJ controlled the night, and every session had its own energy. The sound was soul, funk, disco, early club, and rhythm that kept your feet rolling until the lights came up.

Palace was more than a rink. It was fashion, confidence, and community. Kangol hats, fly fits, smooth skaters, and styles you had to earn. You learned respect here—respect the floor, respect the rhythm, respect the elders who already mastered the glide. Generations crossed paths at Palace, passing down moves, music, and culture one lap at a time.

If you skated Palace in the late ’70s or ’80s, you know it wasn’t just about skating—it was about belonging. This page exists to remember that era, honor that culture, and keep the Palace spirit rolling.

We didn’t just skate back then…
we became part of history.
