It reinvests in the neighborhoods it serves by offering discounts to SNAP recipients, teaching kids how to farm, and creating real access to healthy options.

By supporting businesses like Weavers Way, you're not just shopping, you’re building a more equitable, connected, and resilient community.

When one person acts, a community can thrive. Ellis Ferrell took this to heart when creating Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club. His nonprofit in North Philly mentors local youth through horsemanship—offering structure, purpose, and pride in a neighborhood overlooked by many.

Ellis' vision shows that one committed individual can preserve cultural legacy, empower underserved youth, and plant deep roots of community resilience. That’s the true power of nonprofit leadership.

Scrappy Podcast

The future will be shaped by ordinary people punching well above their weight. Scrappy is a podcast about small organizations doing big things. It’s about business owners, community leaders and movers-and-shakers realizing their dreams, in spite of limited resources and significant barriers, with a little creativity and a whole lot of grit.

In our inaugural season, we talk to an innovator attacking food deserts with urban farming, a visionary addressing recidivism with jobs for former inmates, a leader delivering solar and irrigation solutions to rural Nepal, a pioneer converting trash into currency for developing nations, and many others.

Learn from the inspirational stories of these unsung heroes: how they solve problems, recover from failure, and find success against all odds.
