Nat’s family had trouble finding a dentist who understood his needs. Some offices didn’t take Medicaid. Others didn’t know how to communicate with autistic patients.

But at a dental school in Boston, Nat was welcomed with respect and supported through a complex procedure step by step.

With just a few accommodations, like using familiar words or giving extra time to answer, Nat’s care team helped reduce fear and confusion.

Medicaid made it possible. The right approach made it meaningful.
