Here’s eight traits of high performing people, according to a former Team GB athlete turned Olympic coach.

Thie has run in world championship finals and in the summer was working with Team GB athletics at the Paris Olympics.

The 46-year-old is also a current British Masters record holder in the mile and recent medalist in the World Masters in Sweden over the summer, he also recently ran the New York City marathon in around 2hrs 40 mins! Rapid.

So he knows a thing or two about sustaining high performance.

“What makes someone successful? Most of my time is spent with top level athletes who have an Olympic athlete mindset, but I think there’s a lot here that can be applied to someone trying to start their own business, or simply wanting to be really really good at what they do,” says Thie.

Want to know what it takes and how much it costs to become a REASONABLY good bodybuilder? 💪 💪 💪

REASONABLE might sound harsh. Will Martire, 38, looks epic. 💥 💥 💥

But he’s never competed professionally, despite training for 20 years and putting on near 50kg of muscle in that time.

Here he shares the lengths he’s gone to in order to get massive, from the financial costs and training dedication to the mental health benefits of weightlifting.

It’s World Mental Health Day. This year it’s about workplace mental health.

So we’re sharing a six-stage framework for building a happy workforce. 🥰 😁 😘

We think it’s a fantastic way to forensically structure and measure the happiness of your staff.

You’d like to think that if a person is happy at work, that will positively impact their mental health. Hopefully. 🙏 🙏 🙏

“When I was running Waitrose and John Lewis, in our monthly board meetings this was the first measure for me. How are our people?” says former Waitrose boss Mark Price.

Price was speaking on a recent episode of the Eat Sleep Work Repeat podcast presented by Bruce Daisley where he was discussing his new book Happiness Economics.

1️⃣ Reward and recognition
“Pay reward is a hygiene factor. If you’re paid five per cent less than you think you’re worth, it niggles at you everyday. If you’re paid five per cent more than you think you’re worth, you don’t go into work and work harder. “The thing that really drives engagement and happiness at work is acknowledgement and recognition. Somebody noticing what you’re doing and saying ‘well done’.”

2️⃣ Information sharing
“Have you been trained well enough to do your job effectively? And do you have information about the organisation you’re working in, the context in which you’re working, to do your job effectively?”

3️⃣ Empowerment
“This is about having the information you need to do your job. But also feeling trusted to do your job. Being able to ask questions and get straightforward responses. So once you’ve trained them, letting them get on with it, letting them make decisions, getting them wrong and learning from it.

4️⃣ Wellbeing
“Is generally feeling like your manager and the company you work for cares about your wellbeing. Mental, financial, physical.”

5️⃣ A sense of pride
“You understand your place in the organisation. You feel proud of the organisation and proud of the job you do.”

6️⃣ Job satisfaction
“Do I like my job, am I growing and learning, do I have a good relationship with my manager.”

Ever got to the end of a conversation with your partner and thought you might be speaking a completely different language? Chances are, you might be.

In 1992 marriage counsellor Dr Gary Chapman wrote a book called the Five Love Languages which offered profound insights into the diverse ways we give and receive love.

What are the Five Love Languages?
1. Words of Affirmation
Words hold immense power. For those whose primary love language is words of affirmation, verbal expressions of love and appreciation are paramount. Simple acts like offering genuine compliments, words of encouragement, or expressing gratitude can work wonders.

2. Acts of Service
Actions speak louder than words, and for individuals with acts of service as their love language, this holds true. Engaging in acts that alleviate the burdens of your loved ones, such as cooking a meal, running errands, or offering assistance, becomes a profound expression of love.

3. Receiving Gifts
While it may seem materialistic at first, the love language of receiving gifts is about much more than the material value. Gifts become tangible symbols of love, thoughtfulness and remembrance.

4. Quality Time
In a world filled with distractions, the gift of undivided attention can be transformative. Carving out dedicated moments to engage in activities together, have meaningful conversations, or even enjoy simple leisure time can create a profound sense of connection and intimacy.

5. Physical Touch
Physical touch is a powerful communicator of love, nurturing our deepest emotional needs. For those with physical touch as their love language, meaningful touch holds tremendous significance.
