BREAKING: I've been looking into this new "Dream Saw" from Harvey Woodworking (just revealed at IWF in Atlanta) and here are some of the features that make it so unique:

- It can detect your had getting too close BEFORE you touch the blade.

- If triggered, the blade both stops and drops instantly.

- There is no damage to the blade and no cartridge to replace. Just reset it and go back to work.

- It can tell the difference between skin and wood (even wet wood) and metal, so no false triggers.

- It is variable speed!

-The arbor tilts in BOTH directions.

- All blade adjustments are motorized and precisely repeatable. (Great for dados and other joinery.)

- The fence is not motorized, but the read-out is digital, again, for repeatability of cuts. (Imagine saving all your project setting for next time.)

- The saw has three motors, including a 4hp PMSM (like an electric automobile) so it is QUIET and vibration free.

- It has a built-in sliding table.

That's what I've been able to determine so far, and these features alone make it truly unique. But this is a prototype, so I expect the final version (likely to come out in a few months) may have some more tweaks and improvements. So, stay tuned...

Most table saw jigs solve one problem.

This idea solves a whole category of problems.

The trick is an incremental positioner. Match a threaded rod to the marks on your ruler, and suddenly your jig has positive stops at predictable increments.

That means you can move the workpiece by exact amounts instead of nudging, checking, cutting, and hoping.

For tenons, this is especially useful.

Set the kerf on one side of the waste.
Make the cut.
Move to the other side.
Make the second cut.

No flipping the workpiece around. No guessing where the blade is going to land. No losing repeatability after the first part.

And when the tenon needs just a little more taken off, rotate the threaded rod for a micro-adjustment.

That is the real value here.

The jig is useful.
The positioning idea is the thing worth stealing.

If you think only careless beginners get hurt, you are already in danger.

Serious shop accidents usually happen during:
• One quick cut
• A moment of distraction
• A shortcut you have taken a hundred times

The injury isn't the worst part.

It's the weeks of needles pushed through your fingers.
The months of therapy.
The bills that stretch across two calendar years.
The job you can't do one handed.

Shock wears off. Reality doesn't.

Experience doesn't prevent a mental lapse. You've run a stop sign before. You've drifted lanes. Your brain isn't perfect in the shop either.

So here's the rule:

Before every cut, pause.

Where are your hands?
What happens if the board kicks back?
Don't you actually need that push stick right now?

Yes. You do.

This is not about fear. It is about awareness.
