Like this Egyptian poem from 3000+ years ago that has been going viral today on social media.

It was discovered on a damaged fragmented papyrus, alongside other literary works from the Egyptian Middle Kingdom period. The original author is unknown. Doing a little digging, I believe this particular translation appears in Gregory Orr’s anthology of historical love poems, Poetry as Survival, though there is also a similar version that can be sourced from Miriam Lichtheim’s magisterial collection, Ancient Egyptian Literature.
