Should Body Count Matter?
We are in a highly s*xual world where the sacrosanct nature of s*x has been defined. What’s mean to be sacred is now cheap and commonized. Songs, movies, pop culture, everything just promotes s*x outside marriage, which isn’t God’s original plan. Young men brag about how many women they get in with, and young women pride in same abuse of s*x, however I think there are layers to this conversation. Spiritual layers, social layers, psychological layers and it’ll be important to address them.
The truth is that this abuse of s*x and random leaping from one person to another can perverse one’s perception of s*x, promote unrealistic s*xual expectations & enable unfair comparison. And because of this numerous s*xual sampling, s*xual pleasure in marriage becomes difficult. However, there are many reasons why people are addicted to s*x and are fast to yank off their underwear. There are scarred people who use s*x to seek respite because of trauma issues. We all struggle with something, and s*x is it for some.
I would be intellectually dishonest to not state that some people are outright sodomized and reprobate and have given themselves to this wanton lifestyle out of selfish gain and just waywardness. But still, that could be rooted in identity issues. I am not making excuses, but laying a foundation to how to look at people who are addicted to s*x. This doesn’t absolve them of the consequences because every action has repercussions, but does body count really matter?
That question is a matter of preference. Yes, body count can matter, it shows s*xual discipline in some cases. Some say the past matters, because it can indicate future possibilities. I don’t agree, but as a preference, it is valid for them. Now, as Christians, I think that body count shouldn’t matter to us, at least not on the grounds of their past. If one with 50 body counts gets saved, they become new and if Christ says they are new, who are we to hinge to their past?
