Our final of the year is a very special one indeed! Read on from our founder Richard Boote. Merry Christmas and thanks to all who have supported Strongroom in this milestone year 🎄🌌

"This 24 track Otari was delivered on this day (Xmas eve) 40 years ago, just in time for Strongroom's first recordings with Drum Theatre, a band our landlord's son was in. I brought it from Belgium, as it was a little cheaper and money was very tight; I'd spent every penny I had on Strongroom’s first studio and was very hands on during the build.

Studio one had to be completely remade in 1990, following a flood during the recording of Erasure's seconds album The Circus, produced by none other than Flood of course! It set us on a path designing studios unlike any other with and well, the rest is history. Erasure also came back around not long after for a run of albums in our studios with our dear friend including in his long-standing production room, the first of many we'd go on to build.

So this Otari represents the start of Strongroom all those years ago as we now look forward very positively to our future. It is still earning it's keep today in studio three (moved upstairs when we acquired a pair of studers for studio one), we are still making records, still fiercely independent all these years later.

Today we announce the departure of our CEO, Paul Woolf.

Closing 15 years of service and dedication, Paul leaves behind an enormous legacy in this business.

As a pillar of strength Paul leadership has steered us through the 'Save Strongroom' development battle and of course the many challenges of the pandemic & subsequent cost of living crisis.

We will greatly miss Paul's infectious energy, we give him our deepest gratitude and hope you will join us in wishing him the very best for the future.

Turning to the business going forward, Strongroom will be run by Max Murdy-Flisher and Jake Murray with the full support of Richard Boote.

We're incredibly excited for this next chapter and thank you for your continued support

In case you missed it: Tom Walker recorded this huge choir version of ‘Burn’ in Strongroom 1🔥🎵 engineered by Eve Morris.

SR1 is a comfortable, colourful and inspiring option for larger ensembles. We can fit a 20-piece choir, full bands, jazz bands, string ensembles, brass sections and of course our grand piano sounds wonderful in there too.
