2023: Abiodun declares interest in second term
… receives nomination form from kinsmen, picks deputy as running mate

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, officially declared his intention to seek re-election in 2023 on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he remains undaunted and resolutely committed to achieve more for the state.

Abiodun made the declaration at the Executive Council Chambers of his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, when he received the nomination form bought for him by his kinsmen and women under the aegis of the DA Mandate 2023.

He also immediately announced the re-nomination of his deputy, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele as his running mate.

Abiodun recalled how the journey began four years ago when he called out the citizens of the State to join him in a journey of selfless service to build a secure and prosperous state driven by a vibrant economy and supported by quality service, equity and justice, saying it was gratifying that the people believed in him and gave their support.

The governor who expressed surprise at the gesture, recounted the many trials he and his team had to pass through in the quest to lead the State, adding that some people did everything to discourage him while "many people did not believe in us".

"This gesture touches my bone. It is like a balm that sooth all the pain that we suffered in the course of our campaigns. I am happy particularly that this is coming from my home base,” he said.

"We were planning on how to go to Abuja to get the form. I am happy that nobody prompted you, you did this out of your own volition and the belief you have in us. I promise you that the trust you have in us will be built upon.

"Today is a significant day in my life and because of this gesture, I am officially declaring my intention to run for the second term and in the same vein, I am declaring my deputy as my running mate. You are investing in an administration and I want to assure you that you will not regret, as the only way I can reward you is by more superlative performance", he enthused.

He said his administration has made significant impact in the lives of the people, noting that the gesture would inspire him to do more.

According to the governor, “In the last three years, I have fulfilled my promises to you to make Ogun work for all. With your support, we have made this (Ogun) State a better place and changed the face of our State. I did not do it alone; we did it together, because you believed.

“Our state has remained steadily prosperous because of your positive outlook. I urge you to always stay positive in your personal and communal lives and continue to aspire to great things".

He congratulated the executive members and all other members of his team who have worked tirelessly in the last three years, noting that "they are the stars of this administration".

Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and leader of the group, Biyi Adeleye said the performance of the governor and the desire to see him complete his good works, led to the purchase of the form.

Adeleye who debunked insinuations that the governor does not have a platform, said the aim of the group is for second term and beyond, explaining that members of the group are from the three Local Government Areas of Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North that make up the Remo Zone.

“We taxed ourselves to raise the fund for the form as a result of the confidence we have in the capacity of our brother and boss, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to lead the State to greater heights”, he added.

While calling on the people of the state to continue supporting the present administration, Adeleye informed that people from other zones have indicated interest to join the group.

The Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun last night, paid a condolence visit to the Baba Ijo of Our Saviour's Anglican Church, Ikenne, Chief Emmanuel Osibona, who is the father of late Olufemi Adegoke Osibona.

Mr Olufemi, who was the owner of Fourscore Homes, passed away, having been trapped in the collapsed 21-storey Ikoyi building.

He went to commiserate with Baba Osibona over the unfortunate incident. "We pray God grant him and the entire family the fortitude to bear this sad and irreparable loss," he said.

"I want to share an experience I had a few days ago. I noticed my son had four boils, one on his head, his chest, his leg and his fingers. They were so small, I assumed they are slight infections and would go. His doctor recommended an antibiotic cream. You can see the picture of when the thing was still small. Sometimes my son will be shouting "his head, his head" or "his leg", I assumed it was aches that the boil was giving him and I gave him just paracetamol. His teachers also claimed that he usually shouts "my head, my head" in school. On the third day. As I got back from work, I checked the hand and saw that the boil had opened. I saw something like pus. Lo and behold when I pressed it, a live maggot came out!
I wanted to faint. I called my husband and also called the doctor. It was already about 6pm, we couldn't go to the hospital. So the doctor , advised I pressed all of them which I did. 4 live maggots in all. I cleaned the wound with spirit. And his doctor placed him on antibiotics, my son was able to have a restful sleep compared to the past 4 days. The doctor eventually told me about the TUMBU FLY. Please read about it mums. Knowledge is power.
She said it happens to both babies, toddlers and adults! Especially when clothes are spread outside or damp clothes. The fly lays eggs on the clothes or when the fly lays eggs on the grass and your clothes fall on the grass, the clothes magnet the egg. When you wear it, the egg enters your skin and begins to mature as a maggot. At nights, it will be moving which is why my son used to cry a lot at night when he's shouting " My head, my head"
Doctor's recommendation:
1. Hold all your clothes and children's clothes with pegs to prevent them from falling down.
2. Shake all clothes off before taking them inside.
3. Wash all children's clothes with hot water.
4. Iron all clothes especially that of children .
5. Encourage washing of hands.
6. Clean all surfaces with disinfectant.
7. Wash all bedsheets and towel with hot water.

Osibajo didn't collect N4B from Magu.

Laolu Akande, spokesman of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, says his principal will not be distracted by “campaigns of lies and calumny”.

Akande was reacting to allegations that Ibrahim Magu, suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), “embezzled over N39 billion and gave Osinabjo N4 billion after the VP gave instructions to him to release some of the recovered loots…”

In a statement on Wednesday, Akande said the report is also being circulated in a video on Youtube with a female commentator “peddling the same lies”.

He described the report as “baseless fabrications”, adding that such “reckless publications” have become tools used by unscrupulous elements to tarnish the image of honest public officials.

“With all emphasis at our disposal, let it be firmly stated that these are totally false and baseless fabrications purporting to reflect goings-on at the Probe Panel investigating Mr. Ibrahim Magu. They are indeed completely absurd in every respect,” the statement read.

“Sadly, such mindless, vicious and reckless publications have now become the preferred tool of unscrupulous and reprobate elements in our society who are procured with monetary inducement to peddle blatant falsehood, tarnish the image of upright public officials and mislead unsuspecting Nigerians.

“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will of course not be distracted by these obvious campaigns of lies and calumny. The online publications, being criminally defamatory in nature, have been referred to the relevant law enforcement agencies for investigation and necessary action.”

Magu is being probed by a presidential panel over allegations of gross misconduct against the EFCC under him.

Nigeria recorded 575 new coronavirus infections on Monday bringing total cases reported in the country to 29,286.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, 11,828 patients have been discharged upon treatment and recovery in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Centre also said 654 associated deaths have been reported across the country.

It gave the state-by-state distribution of cases confirmed on Monday as, “Lagos – 123, FCT – 100, Delta – 58, Edo – 52, Ogun – 42, Katsina – 24, Bayelsa – 23, Rivers – 22, Borno – 19, Plateau – 18, Ondo – 18, Oyo – 17, Kwara – 15, Osun – 13, Enugu – 9, Nasarawa – 7, Abia – 6, Cross River – 5, Kaduna – 3, Ekiti – 1.”

Ilugun-Itoko Community (Odeda LG) Appreciates Governor Abiodun for donating 500KVA Transformer

For residents of Ilugun-Itoko Community and its adjoining communities which are within the precinct of Odeda Local government in Ogun State, it was excitements laced with joy as the present administration in Ogun state under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun recently donated a 500 KVA Transformer to solve the age-long epileptic electricity supply in the area.

Residents of the Community, a suburb of the Kemta Idi-Aba Housing Estate which also accommodates the World Renowned Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka had practically been living in darkness for more than eight years. This is due to the low capacity of the transformer of 300 KVA capacity which serves about eight communities, with no less than 20,000 residents. As a result of the low voltage usually supplied from the transformer year-in-year out, the situation of electricity supply in the area can be said to be abysmal.

Respite however came the way of residents of the community which had waited with bathed breath for government’s attention for several years, as the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, apparently as part of the celebration of its one year in office directed officials of the Bureau of Electrical Services and Urban and Physical Planning to commence the process of installation of a new transformer in the community.

Residents of the community began to see sings of a good thing to come when officials of the Ogun State government under the relevant Minisries and agencies commenced the er****on of electricity poles and mapping of the site for the citing of the new transformer.

In less than a week to the appearance of the officials in the community, the Eagle eventually landed as a new 500KVA transformer berth in the community, courtesy of the Ogun State government.

The excitements of the people of the community, including the young and the old since the arrival of the transformer had known no bounds as they continue to express joy and savour the excitement that come with the new addition to their community.

Chief Gbejeoniyi Oladeinde Orobiyi who is the Baale of Ilugun- Itoko Community, in an interview with The Business Package, spoke about the journey towards obtaining a new transformer for the community.

‘’It’s been a while since we’ve been experiencing the problem of poor electricity supply. As you can see, the community is expanding by the day and in the past few years, we’ve been having epileptic power supply’’.

When the problem became unbearable, Chief Orobiyi said the Community sought the help of Professor Wole Soyinka who is an integral part of the community

‘’ This made us to approach our father, Professor Wole Soyinka to help us facilitate the procurement of a new transformer by the Government. As God would have it, our request was granted through the grace of God. We thank our Governor for this gesture. This is because, within the last one month that we commenced the move, we have seen positive results. As I speak to you, officials of the state government are installing the transformer and new electric poles’’

In terms of communities enjoying the benefits of the new transformer, he said there are no less than eight communities, including Ilugun 1, Ilugun2, Ilugun3, Ifelodun, Surulere, Araromi and also Ifekowajo, Baabo, Ajangboun among others.

Chief Orobiyi stated further, ‘’In terms of population, we should be talking about close to 20,000 inhabitants that are benefitting from this good gesture of Governor Dapo Abiodun’’

Expressing profound appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State , Prince Dapo Abiodun and his entire cabinet on the gesture, he said ‘’ If there is an opportunity to run the affairs of the state for three to four terms, I will say it authoritatively that the entire Ilugun-Itoko Community and its adjoining communities will queue behind Mr. Governor and ask him to continue his stride as the Governor of the state’’

OGUN GOV. ABIODUN VISITS FLOOD-RAVAGED COMMUNITIES, PLEDGES REPAIRS AND ASSISTANCE

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Monday, visited communities in Abeokuta which were ravaged by flooding during the torrential rains that fell in the State Capital on Saturday.

The communities include: Isale Oja, in Kuto; Ijeun-Titun, and Ekundayo Street, Abeokuta.

The Governor expressed deep emotions, as he viewed the extent of the damage that the flood had caused to houses and business structures.

According to him, he had sent 5 Commissioners to the scenes and assess the extent of the damage caused by the floods, immediately he got wind of the development.

Governor Abiodun pleaded with leaders of the communities and markets to give the State Government a little time to gather details of affected persons and businesses for them to get the needed assistance.

Concerned Commissioners have been directed by the Governor to commence palliative works in the places, pending when a permanent solution would be put in place.

Governor Abiodun strongly advised residents to stop disposing waste on waterways, to allow Government's intervention go a long way and remain permanent.

Arsenal’s Brazil Under-23 striker, Gabriel Martinelli, has signed a new long-term contract at the Premier League club.

The news comes 48 hours after a fellow teenager, Bukayo Saka, 18, also agreed a new long-term deal with the Gunners.

The 19 year old Martinelli, who penned his new contract exactly a year after joining Arsenal, has scored 10 goals in 26 games for the club since moving from Brazilian side Ituano last year.

He has been sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in training which required surgery.

“I am very happy that Gabi has signed a new contract with us.

“He is a very talented young player and he has impressed us with his performances, attitude and work-rate.

“We are looking forward to getting him back to full fitness and to watching his development at our club,’’ Manager Mikel Arteta told the club website
