I paid extra for a 5-inch driveway because my contractor said anything thinner would crack under my truck.

Today I measured the edge after they removed the forms.

It barely reached 3½ inches in several spots.

The contractor told me, "The edges are always thinner. It doesn't matter."

Maybe that's true...

But if I paid for a 5-inch driveway, shouldn't every part that's supposed to support weight actually be close to 5 inches?

Am I overreacting, or would you be asking for answers too?

Over tightening causes leaks. There is a misconception of the tighter the better but this is not true. Once hand tightened 1-1/4 turn with your adjustable spanner should do it. General rule if it squeaks it leaks. And PTFE is just not needed, regardless how many plumbers have their own opinion on this it’s WRONG! Olives were designed to be used without the aid of PTFE. A bit of pipe dope to aid the tightening process is at most enough.

Fair enough... but if you make the hole, shouldn't you at least send it a goodbye card? 😅

Now he's expecting $350 while my wall is still auditioning for a home renovation show. 📺🏚️

Vent pipe cut minor
Removing a shower today, I accidentally knicked and cut the 3” vent pipe. It’s minor but clearly need to fix. What should I do to fix? Probably 1 inch wide slit.
