Republicans are trying to counter complaints of wasteful spending on Trump's military parade by pointing out that Washington, D.C. just spent $7.4 million in tax dollars hosting World Pride last week despite around 5,100 D.C. residents being homeless. What the Republicans are CLEARLY forgetting however, is that MANY of those homeless people are members of the LGBTQA+ community! World Pride was FOR THEM - and they probably enjoyed it even more than the people with homes to go back to once it was over.

As liberals, we know that spending money on events like World Pride is EXACTLY what we need to be doing to help homeless people in our communities!

Today is National Loving Day, a reminder that the government once believed it had the power to control who Americans could marry simply because of skin color.

In Loving v. Virginia (1967), the Supreme Court struck down bans on in*******al marriage, but only after Mildred and Richard Loving were arrested for being married.

That’s what happens when government oversteps and inserts itself into our most personal choices.
