It’s Canadian Thanksgiving weekend!

Many will have a table full of food, love and laughter - enjoying time with family, friends - and, of course, those Instagram worthy walks in the woods.

For many others, Holidays can be so triggering - and on the heels of world mental health day, may we use this weekend to continue this important conversation with the people in our lives.

In our moments of reflection, let’s nourish those relationships - checking in on each other. Because in a world of disillusioned realities of love and friendship, we can be a mirror that reflects hope and admiration for each other; modeling what others deserve.

I know what it’s like when health challenges make everyday life harder.

I’m not alone.

As part of the largest women’s health
survey in the Maritimes, more than half of us said our health impacts home and work life. (~27,000 voices and experiences)

Together, our stories show it’s time for women’s health to be treated as a priority. We’re not just scaled-down versions of men. Our care needs to
reflect our bodies, our hormones, and our realities.

The time is now for women’s health equity in Nova Scotia AND Canada 🇨🇦

I am truly honoured to have been a part of this critical campaign with IWK Foundation as it cracks open the vault to highlight the many deeply personal and painful experiences of women across this country.

As a woman with a chronic reproductive illness, I have consistently experienced gaps in my care. Pushed onto a health system who never had the right doctors, the proper research, or the adequate representation.

It’s time to invest in us! If not now, when?

If you are heading to the The Honest Talk Women’s summit this October in Ottawa. I want to chat with you about advocacy and how to shape policy that matters to us all.

Because when we start taking care of women, we all thrive.
