Pierre Sage defends Crystal Palace's spending 💵

The Eagles spent £54m in the 2026 transfer window, but also raked in £79.5m in sales. Only Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion recorded a lower net spend than the South Londoners.

Instead of criticising, the Frenchman defended the club's business, saying: “I’m not frustrated – we are not a bank. We do with what we have.

"My parents had a restaurant and I prefer every day there’s a lot of clients but it was not the case sometimes and we have to deal with that every day. In football it’s the same.”

Pierre Sage admits Crystal Palace had no chance of keeping Daniel Munoz after Oliver Glasner expressed an interest in signing him.

Munoz moved to Forest for £22m having previously won the FA Cup and the Europa Conference League while working with Glasner at Selhurst Park.

When asked why the Colombian wanted to leave, Sage said: “Because, he will join the previous manager, they know them. You can work together and perform.

"We have anticipated this kind of thing by the recruitment of two players in this domain, department, sorry.

"He gave, good years here to a great team. We understand this kind of decision.”

Adam Wharton pledged to stay at Crystal Palace 🗣️

The England international opted to stay at Selhurst Park this summer despite the Eagles receiving offers for him, according to Pierre Sage.

When asked about Wharton and the transfer window, Sage said: "I hear things about him. I hear we received offers too, but the club was strong with the situation, and I think the player is completely in line with that.

"He never spoke with me about a possible departure. That’s why I think he is, in his, project to manage his career and he is really smart to do it like this.”

He has been linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Pierre Sage under pressure!🫨

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed the Crystal Palace boss is already under scrutiny at Selhurst Park.

Pierre Sage sends message to Ismaila Sarr 🗣️

"Like every bad situation, time does the job and we need time for that. He needs time too.

"First of all he needs to recover because he was and is injured. He is our player and we are happy with that.

"He has to digest for sure because it's a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club [Liverpool]. He had a good opportunity but in the end it didn't work.

"If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time."
