The Shoot Out 24 Hr Filmmaking Festival we want it BACK! The Shoot Out is a filmmaking festival where you have to go to Newcastle and make a film in 24Hrs. It is a action packed weekend designed to create a 'level playing field' so filmmakers of all ages and ability have a chance of winning. The Shoot Out started in 1999 and has over the years seen some amazing films and been the starting point fo
r many filmmakers careers. Chris Lily's (Summer Heights High) trialed some of his original characters in The Shoot Out. Jason van Genderan has gone on to win several mobile phone challenges with Tropfest. Daniel Henshaw's (Snowtown) film festival debut was with The Shoot Out and the list goes on. This is Newcastle's own festival that has gone on to be held in other states and countries but is no longer held here.
