The young girl did not ignore the lost old man. The next day, something was waiting for her...
Anna was rushing to the office after a business meeting with some partners. To save time, she took a shortcut through the city park. The sun was shining brightly, but a cold wind from the river blew into her bones. Anna shivered and wrapped her coat tighter around herself.
Passersby walked quickly, not paying attention to each other. Anna also walked faster, afraid that she would be late for an important meeting. Suddenly, her eyes fell on a bench, separated from the main road.
On that bench, an old man was sitting. Dressed neatly, holding a cane, he was staring at a distant point. There was something about his appearance that made Anna slow down.
"Excuse me, what time is it?" the old man asked, noticing her gaze.
"1:30", Anna replied after looking at the clock.
The old man nodded and looked back at the horizon. Anna was about to continue, but noticed his distant gaze.
"Is everything okay? Do you need help?" she asked, moving closer.
The old man looked at her gratefully.
"I think I'm lost," he whispered. "I went for a walk and now I can't find my way home."
Anna sat down next to him. Suddenly the meeting seemed less urgent. She asked softly,
"Can you tell me your name?"
"My name is Viktor Semenovich," he replied after a moment of silence.
"Do you remember your home address or the phone number of your relatives?"
Viktor Semenovich closed his eyes and concentrated. After a minute, he slowly told her his address and phone number. Anna immediately took out her cell phone and dialed.
"Hello?" a male voice answered.
"Hello! I'm in the city park near Lenin Street with Viktor Semenovich." "He's a little lost," Anna explained.
"Dad?!" the voice said with relief. "Thank you very much! I'll be there soon. Please stay with him."
After hanging up, Anna turned back to the old man, who was shivering with cold. Without hesitation, she took off her coat and put it around his shoulders.
"Oh, no, it's not necessary," the old man protested.
"It's okay, I'm not cold," Anna reassured him, although she could already feel the cold on her skin.
They began to talk. Viktor Semenovich told about his life, about his son who was always busy with work, while Anna listened attentively, occasionally glancing at her watch.
After a quarter of an hour, an elegant black car pulled into the park. A man in his forties got out and hurried towards them. Anna immediately recognized the family resemblance.
"Dad!" the man exclaimed as he approached. "I told you not to go out alone!"
"I thought I could do it myself, Sergei," his father replied guiltily.
Sergei helped his father up and turned to Anna:
"I don't know how to thank you! I don't want to think about what could have happened without your help. What's your name?"
"Anna," she replied, putting her coat back on.
"Anna, I'm very grateful for your kindness." "I promise my father I won't be alone again," Sergei said seriously. "We'll take her there."
Anna said goodbye to them and hurried to the office. The meeting had already started, but no one commented on this small delay.
The day passed in a haze. Anna couldn't concentrate on her work. After lunch, she found an envelope on her desk. Inside was a piece of paper with the address and time of the meeting. The sender was the large corporation "StroyInvest".
Anna knew the company, but she didn't understand who could have sent her that invitation. Curiosity got the better of her. During her lunch break, she went to the specified address.
In front of her was a modern concrete and glass building. She went upstairs and entered a large office. Behind the large desk was a familiar face. Sergei smiled at her and invited her to sit down.
"Surprise, right?" he said, noticing her surprise.
"Actually, yes," Anna admitted. "I didn't expect that."
"Yesterday, he helped my father without expecting anything in return," Sergei began. "You know, nowadays few people stop to help a stranger."
Anna shrugged shyly.
"I appreciate people who are capable of compassion without seeking reward," Sergei continued. "That's why I want to make you a proposal."
He took out a file and placed it in front of Anna.
"I'm offering you a position with my company. Double your current salary, company housing, and great career prospects."
Anna skimmed through the terms of the contract... 👇
