IAD welcomes the U.S. Supreme Court decision, an important victory for minorities’ voting rights and a step forward towards a more equitable electoral process.

In a surprising decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Alabama’s decision to redraw congressional districts lines last year violated the section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which protected the participation of racial minorities in the political process. The ruling means that Alabama will have to redraw its congressional map to accommodate a second majority-Black district. ‘It was not just a win for Alabama, it was a win for democracy itself,’ said Representative Terri Sewell, the only Black House Democrat.

NASA has announced the crew for Artemis II - the first crewed flight around the Moon of the Artemis Program.

The four crew members include NASA Astronauts, Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist NASA Astronaut Christina Hammock Koch, and Mission Specialist Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.

Artemis II is scheduled for launch no earlier than November, 2024.
