• I told y’all I was working on this whole “music mogul” thing. After such a draining and emotional rollercoaster of a year with my physical and mental health, it feels so good to know that I’m ending the year with the BEST group of friends around me and working on everything I’ve ever dreamed about.

It hasn’t been easy and granted, there are so many times I wanted to give up on not just my dreams but on life in general. I’m so glad, God gave me multiple chances to get this right. Because if he didn’t, I would have never met people like Show Off Your Swaqq.

This man is literally me (with way more personality) in a male’s body. 😂 With his brand and my brand , we decided, “Why not two millennials fed up with this ‘state of the culture’ actually launch something together?” And now...we have CULTURE INTERRUPTED.

Join us weekly as we dissect the twisted and entertaining worlds of music, film, fashion and popular culture. Our podcast will be available on SoundCloud and iTunes Podcast app and our first episode will be uploaded Dec 6th titles “ ” as we discuss the Grammy nominations, Grammy predictions + favorite Grammy moments and performances of all time.

• it’s crazy to think that there’s just one month left in this year. During this time of year, I usually reflect on the challenges and highlights of my life over the course of the last 12 months...anyone who is deeply close to me knows what I’ve been through over the course of this year and soon enough, so will everyone else. It’s amazing to think that I’m still here when just a few months ago, I had a su***de attempt that could’ve got ya girl out of here. As a Pisces, I think we just naturally go through existential crises of trying to find ourselves, where we belong and who we should be. I’ve struggled with finding my own identity for damn near all my life and this year not only made me realize WHO I am but what I can do. I realized that I always knew who I was and would always find a way to make my dreams and goals happen, what I needed was the strength to be the woman Josie and Zachary raised me to be. Everyday is a struggle with my mental health, physical health and other obstacles that I face as a young, black and talented woman in a world not created for me. But, I’ve learned to grab the world by its lapels and essentially...make it my bitch. Launching my website astoldbykia.com was more than just me finally embarking on everything I would always dream about but, owning up to the pain I suffered this year and channeling it into creating my dreams into reality. There’s so much more to discuss and boy, this womanhood ride into becoming Kia is gonna be one hell of a ride. But, I’m learning who I am and I’m learning to love myself for the woman that I’m constantly evolving into. So in retrospect, I’m glad God gave me three chances this year to continue living. Cause my purpose becomes clearer and clearer each day.
