Just wanted to let everyone know we're going to be shutting down for awhile due to lack of funding. Going to try and figure out a way to run the station for less, but with licensing costs where they are, it's unlikely. Not completely shutting down just yet. If I can come up with something, I'll post here. Thanks for all of your support over the years!

A heads up for all the fans of old-time country music out there. Today at Venerable Radio we’ll be doing something a little different. With the upcoming release of The Knoxville Sessions 1929-1930 - Knox County Stomp (http://amzn.to/1QAczIY) we’re going to celebrate by playing titles all day from this plus the other 2 fantastic sets in the series. The schedule will be –

From 9-11 EST, we’ll be playing titles from The Bristol Sessions, 1927-1928: The Big Bang of Country Music (http://amzn.to/1VBZ836) – Victor Sessions.

From 11-1 EST, we’ll be playing titles from The Johnson City Sessions 1928-1929: Can You Sing Or Play Old-Time Music? (http://amzn.to/1SAwARK) – Columbia Sessions

From 1-3 EST, we’ll be playing titles from The Knoxville Sessions 1929-1930 - Knox County Stomp (http://amzn.to/1QAczIY) – Vocalion and Brunswick sessions.

And after that, we'll do it all again to give everyone a chance to listen. The second time around will include some repeats plus tracks we missed the first time around!

These are all fantastic sets from Bear Family that are highly recommended. I’ve been doing this a long time and each set contains reissues of titles I had never heard until the release of these sets. Especially Knox County Stomp!

Happy 2016 Friends! We've had a bit of a reprieve for the immediate future of the station. First of all, I can't thank everyone enough for the donations made last month. We were able to come back from the red and the station again broke even for the year! Looks like our increase in fees might be sustainable for 2016? If we do some things like limit the number of listener slots (which we haven't filled up since 2014) we can offset the increase to about $10 more per month. I've been warned that this may be temporary for January, but it at least gets us another month & it's possible that fees stick here for at least the current year?? So for now, things are looking hopeful for the immediate future of the station. It's again due to your constant donations and support. We would shrivel up quickly without it!! Merry New Year to All!!! - Malcolm

Hello Everyone – just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that December 2015 will probably be the last month for Venerable Radio to be on the air. It’s not 100% guaranteed, but it’s looking like our licensing fees are due to go up astronomically. There is still a chance that an appeal to Copyright Royalty Board (enforced by Sound Exchange) will mitigate some of the cost increases, but it might not be done before January 1st. This mixed with our recent decline in listenership and donations make it improbable that we will be able to carry on. If it turns out that the increase in fees will be less than $20 per month (or so) we may try to carry on for a bit longer with a higher push for donations; at the moment though all signs point to the fee increase being much steeper than that. In any case, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our faithful listeners and donors for the years of great support! If there is any new news on the situation, I’ll post it here.
Sincerely,
Malcolm

Hi everyone - if anyone is wondering why we're not on ITunes at the moment, it's because they are really slow updating their links! Two weekends ago our streaming server moved our station to a new IP address which broke the ITunes link. We are still up and broadcasting, you'll just need to go to the actual webpage to Tune In - http://www.venerableradio.com/samPHPweb/playing.php #.Vgq3SOSFOUk

We are back up and streaming on ITunes again. We're in the Blues category if you're looking to find us there. Soon we will be back up on Stream Licensing as well. Thanks for the well wishes and support! Enjoy the station!

Update - looks like we've had complete hard drive failure and will have to send it off for attempted recovery. We'll probably be down for at least a week and possibly longer. If I have any other updates I'll post them here. Thanks again for your support, patience and understanding.

Having some more hardware issues this morning. We'll be down for a few hours this morning and hopefully back up early afternoon. Thanks for your patience!
