The Nine Lives concert ticket pre-sale has started….

01/03/2019

Hi everybody.

The Write Brothers (Alex McMurray, Paul Sanchez, Spencer Bohren and Jim McCormick) have finished writing a brand new collection of songs and are headed into the studio. They are looking for recording funds totaling $10,000, and are reaching out to potential investors to fill the gap with an offer of owning 20 percent of the final master recordings.

The investor or investors will own a collective 20 percent of the master recording. (Each of the band members will also own 20 percent each.) Thus, if any song is licensed, distributed, or released by a third-party record label, or any masters are released on any compilations, soundtracks, or placed in any film, television, show, commercial, ringtone or video game, the investor or investors in this project will receive a collective 20 percent stake in any revenues.

The band members will retain all ownership of their songwriting and publishing, and all monies from album/CD sales (or individual online song sales) will go to the four band members.

If you are interested in this, please private or text message me. Checks get made out and mailed to:

First, as some of you know, the Paul Sanchez album with some collaboration by (and a lot of inspiration from) Chris Joseph was recorded the other day... and word is it's spectacular. Royal Fingerbowl (Alex McMurray, Matt Perrine and Carlo Nuccio) backed our bard, with Craig Klein, Debbie Davis, Shamarr Allen and various others we love all sitting in.

GREAT thanks to all who contributed $$-wise to make it possible. Your love is also a great inspiration for this album.

BUT.... and much more importantly, as you also probably know, Chris is taking on his cancer with the combination of strength, fortitude and smarts we all expect from him. But it's a tough road, and he's starting a new phase of treatment that involves some steep challenges, including, well, $$. Some friends, led by Julie Glassman, have started a GoFundMe to help Chris be able to wing his way to Frankfurt for treatments that are not available in the US (we can have that discussion later). So he needs our help.... And yes, we know and are eternally grateful for the help given to the album and other things. We know money is tight. But if you can, please kick in to the kitty to help make this happen.

Boundless love and gratitude to all who help support this, even in the smallest amounts. Here's the link.

Our friend Chris Joseph is not your average guy. Nope. He's funny as hell. Sharp as a tack. And deeply loving and connected, despite his insistence that he's anything but. He's also a dedicated and impassioned father (of two). A (loving) ex-husband (of two). And the (unbelievably lucky) boyfrien...

Many, perhaps most of you know that Chris, our inspiring leader, has been going through some rough challenges with his health. Surprising to no one, Chris has turned some of the difficulties into some profound, touching expressions of life, some derived from conversations with Paul. Also surprising to no one, Paul in turn has taken some things Chris wrote and made them into a couple of songs -- anyone who was at Paul's recent concert at Colman Dekay's L.A. pad heard one of them, "Tears of Healing," which left many of us shedding said tears. It's a really remarkable song, among Paul's best (and that is saying something), and now it is to be the title track of a new album that Paul is soon to record with none other than Royal Fingerbowl -- yup, Alex McMurray and the guys!

So.... this is where YOU come in. Chris was going to oversee the funding of this, but given the situation he's been unable to devote full attention to it. So Colman and yours truly here are taking over that role in love and appreciation for Chris and all he has done for so many. Paul has quoted a budget of $8000 for the project (a bargain, really), and Colman and I (Steve Hochman aka Baconwrapped) started things out with a grand each. And now we are turning to the Threadhead community to raise the rest, which we expect is a slam-dunk.

This is a Threadhead Records project, but rather than going through the middleman, we are asking for all contributions be sent directly to Paul, one of two ways. You can PayPal to him at his email address: [email protected]

Or you can wing a check to him at:

Frankly, I expect we will exceed our goal here, knowing all you folks and knowing how much Chris means to us. If so, any surplus funds once the project is completed will be donated to the Threadhead Cultural Foundation, for more healing.

Boundless thanks in advance to all of you. This is what Threadhead is all about!

Heal on!!

One of the 11 Artist Grants distributed in Round 5 went to Jimmy Carpenter who will soon complete his second solo CD, a follow-up to the well-received 2008 release of Toiling in Obscurity. This recording will feature all original material in a roots/New Orleans vibe. Working with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Chris Finney, the band will feature well-known New Orleans musicians and several invited guests. Jimmy is one of the most versatile of local performers and regularly appears with Walter Wolfman Washnigton, Honey Island Swamp Band, Eric Lindell and many others.
