‘Loops’ by Gareth Hardwick is now available to buy.
Loops and looping play a massive part in the music Gareth creates. Taking the basic premise of a loop as the starting point and then stubbornly sticking to it, most of the music on the album was created using an old four track recorder, ‘infinite’ cassette tapes and effects. Mechanical interventions and processing were then used to manipulate the sounds constantly repeating and folding back in on itself. Whilst the resulting music is lo-fi, the limitations of the setup undoubtedly contributed to its woozy, dreamlike quality.
Each 12” record was individually made in real time, mechanically lathe-cut by Bladud Flies! in Mid Wales. Continuing this theme, every sleeve, created in collaboration with Faster Than A Galloping Horse is unique, with a different harmonograph design on each cover.
Hand assembled and individually numbered in a run of only 40 copies.
